Thanks Janson and Renhao for your reply. If it is even more expensive than BM, then I must have really been a carrot head.

But the $398 charged by BM, does it includes parts or just the labour?

I think it is more likely you suffer because you do not keep track of your own vehicle maintenance. On a side note, at least your vehicle is now in good condition instead of breaking down due to non service and that is when they really carrot you and make curry!

I suggest you change auto trans oil and spark plug after the next 30k from now.

Hi everyone, i am new to this forum and is currently driving Toyota Altis. Recently i discovered that underneath my back bumper, there is a wire hanging down loosely (wire connected from left to right and hanging loosely in the middle). Not sure what wire is that and also if it is critical to get it fixed. Appreciate if anyone can help me with this. Thanks.

Most likely it's the wire for the reverse sensors.

If you want, you can stick the wire behind the rear bumper yourself using a tape.

Yup...i tied it to the inner part of the rear bumper. Probably will get it secured in my next servicing.

Hi All...

My is Toyota Altis 2006

left 1 year plus more to scrap...

Is a nice and stable car.

Good shock absorbing.

The only complain is when speed up to 150km/h the acceleration seem like not enough power to go further up...

Anyone got this issue too?

Btw, looking into my next car most probably is Toyota again.

My 5 years old altis also don't have much power, even when moving off from stationary. Not sure what's the main issue too. Anyone can advice?

Anybody driving '09 Camry and facing strut issues? Experience squeaky sounds when driving past humps?

Went to change both the front shock absorbers and problem solved!

it's normal lah, Singapore Altis only 1.6L, don't expect too much acceleration after 150km/h,

and at high speed with high wind resistance, big capacity engine can be better to overcome the resistance

in my impression, altis acceleration is quite good in begining of throttle, if you 5 years altis no power, firstly did you do regular service?

than check spark plugs, air filter, or fine tune ECU... etc

I bring to Toyota to check and tune the engine. The engineer said nothing wrong...

The speed travel at 140km the car still have power to accelerate. But once it hit 150. It seem like change gear and the acceleration is like tortoise crawling uphill.....

Before that I was driving 08 Honda fit. It perform better...

Just wondering is this the characteristic of Toyota engine???

Maybe your injectors clogged or petrol not enough power ?

should not be, Altis can hit 180km/h on NSHW, although speed crawling up after 150km/h

did you noticed engine rpm how much was at 150km/h? whether it hit redline, some engines cut off fuel injection while engine hit redline,

in general 4AT Altis150km/h should not hit redline, unless your Gearbox dropped to 3rd gear and cause engine rpm hit redline at 150km/h, as you stated "It seem like change gear",

Ya.. Bro I am pretty sure the RPM din not hit the red line. It stay ard 4k. When I push the over drive button then power come back. But once I off it. Then power gone again..... So far I had try to hit only ard 160km. After 150km, it slowly crawling up.... Very very slow.

Standard check is the TPS, Air filter, spark plugs, MAF sensor, 02 Sensor, engine oil and filter, also removing the mat under the accelerator can let u push the accelerator abit more to hit 180km/h

It is an old car, don't push it so hard. 150km/h is already fast enough. It is likely a fuel system / Engine / Exhaust issue. Check the fuel pressure of the fuel pump and clean the injectors, that's about all you can do, don't expect everything to work optimally in an old car. Likely the engine is worn and timing and power is not that balanced to push the car so fast, the catalytic convertor can also be dirty so there is some restriction on the exhaust.

Normally when I travelling back to malaysia, I will drive around 130-140.. Cos Sgp to my home town is 600km++ away... Too slow also bore.. Sometime need to over take or uphill then will probably hit 150km. Feel very humilliate... When u travel at 130+, then the stupid kancil over take like bo la sah..... This is my 2nd car... So I am not sure is this the characteristic of Toyota engine...

I believe the previous owner didn't do the proper servicing. Resulting ur car lost of power when travelling at high speed.

I rent a altis b4. Worst than ur one. Turtle after 130. Even kancil can easily overtake me.

Did a servicing recently... only when starting off i felt not much power.... always need to ramp it till 25 to 30rpm to gain power...is it normal?
