Guyver 1st Gear November 14, 2004 Share November 14, 2004 Let's behold the day whereby a Toyota 1.6 sedan car is $50K... or even
Silver_blade Turbocharged November 14, 2004 Share November 14, 2004 Not quite possible....unless COE drop below $15k or BM brings in the lower-specs version (eg. no air bag, rear brake drum, etc.)
Guyver 1st Gear November 15, 2004 Share November 15, 2004 Not quite possible....unless COE drop below $15k or BM brings in the lower-specs version (eg. no air bag, rear brake drum, etc.) Yes... if the parf were to be fixed... but the last round of dropping of parf shows that the car price will drop... so if they were to drop parf value again... say even till Parf = 0% OMV... then car price will surely drop more. Linus Clutched November 15, 2004 Share November 15, 2004 brother, u still in dreamland huh ?
Linus Clutched November 15, 2004 Share November 15, 2004 basically, u r looking at a car with great looks, both internal n external. good handling. not sure abt the FC tho.. perhaps it can hit 10 or 11 in normal driving. the power is lacking as this car is lup with a 1.6 where 2.0 or 2.3 engine is the norm in the jap n euro market. can play ard with the sequential gears if need to have immediate power. with the slight decrease in price recently, still consider overprice. Square_guy Neutral Newbie November 15, 2004 Share November 15, 2004 there's got to be some proper reviews in the forums, but while here's my thoughts.... I'm currently renting the car for long term overseas. on 95 octance petrol and mainly highway, the best I got is 12km/l. average is 11km/l. i believe worst is not lesser than 10km/l. not exactly fantastic but i can live with it. driving style: gear change 3~4k. on highway is usaully around 120~140kmh. also got to test the corolla, megane hatch. i prefer the maz3 anyday in terms of stability at cruise, suspension and handling. power wise, i feel is adqequate. overhere where i am, drivers are maniacs, and i dun feel underpowered here. i dun see why more power is needed for everyday driving back in singapore. btw the corolla doesn't feel that much more powerful to me either. Guyver 1st Gear November 15, 2004 Share November 15, 2004 Well... There was a time in 1998... Toyota Corolla was selling at $120K with COE about $58K.... Now Toyota Altis is about $70K... And Toyota 1.6 sedan hit $50K not possible? Think about it.... but I know... that it's going to be a freaking hard pill to swallow for most of the car owners... We all hope that market will boom and boom... anyway.. let's see... I might be dreaming... or I might be right... only time will tell.
Sharapova Neutral Newbie November 15, 2004 Share November 15, 2004 (edited) Hi Guys, I'm interested in this car too. But I'm still undecided between Mazda3 and a Lancer Manual. From what i gathered from the various forums, owners report 10-11km/L for Mazda 3 and 14-15km/L for the manual Lancer. Actually, I prefer the MAzda3 becos of its exterior and interior looks but the FC is a factor that's bugging me. My journey to work is 80%highway and 20%city, from Jurong to Changi and dun think i will be the heavy footed kind. Performace is not an issue for me also in SG, just wana get to work safely. The problem is I've not owned a car before and I got no feel how much difference in dollars this difference in FC translates to. How much dollar difference do u guys think this 14-15 vs 10-11km/L in FC translates to in a month? Another thing is the insurance. As I'm 0% NCD, reckon the insurance will be skyhigh, but the diff in insurance between mazda and mitsubishi shd be comparable right? (based on car make alone) Am only 28 next year, so I'm hoping a 3k insurance budget per year is enuff...cannot tahan changing multiple public transport to and from work everyday anymore..spend 4 hours on the go everyday Appreciate all your advise. Thanks! Btw, am saving for a few more months or a year more for the downpayment, wait for the mazda price to drop and pay less interest...hope mazda continues dropping!
