Blacknismo Neutral Newbie November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 Just finished a full tank of petrol, the distance recorded is 303km. Therefore average per litre is 6km. I'm driving a Auto version. Also found out from a fellow Sunny user of same new model but manual at my car park, he clocked 7km/litre. Can I find out from you guys driving the same model how's the fuel consumption? Anyway to improve the milege? Do grounding helps in this case? If so where can I go to have it done? I'm presently on Shell 98. Thanks! ↡ Advertisement
Linus Clutched November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 try shell 95. try not to pedal too hard. conti car feel, juz let the momentum of the car run on its own. the car is heavy lah... not ur typical jap car to rev and rev.
Ares Neutral Newbie November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 What kind of roads do you normally travel on? City or Expressway? My 1.5 auto rolla gave me about 9-9.5km/l when I travel 90% city (mostly stuck in traffic jams)and 10% expressway.
Normal_aspirated Clutched November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 Wah 6Km/L, should get 9-10Km after run-in. Should check with TCM agent workshop. Come MCF meetup, there is lotsa gurus can give u tips for some FC improvement.

Linus Clutched November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 yeah... V-power will give u the pissttt.... pissttt.... sound from ur engine. but $$$ oso goes faster. 95 will be gd for most cars.
Andrianie Neutral Newbie November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 mine about 70% expressway, 30% city, shell 98 - 11.96km/litres mobil 95 - 11.1km/litres u need not rev so much n not too little too for this FL sunny, if 2000rpm, u will have a jerk when there is a gear change. Should be smooth ard 2500rpm from stationary position....
Elepoo 2nd Gear November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 Having travelling 303km on full tank is . Based on my 1.5 month old N16 FL Auto (which had completed run in), I can achieve about 10.0 km/l ~ 10.9 km/l with Shell 95 or 98. I am considered heavy footed driver, and my travelling condition is 50% City/ 50% highway FC is depends on our driving habit. 1) What is your driving habit?? Light or heavy footed?? 2) What is your travelling condition?? 60%city/40%highway or 50%city/50%highway? 3) Have u run in your car?? 4) Did you always travel light or heavy?? Boot full?? Maybe, to be accurate in your FC calculation, try looking at your pump receipt which captured your fuel used for distance recorded. Hope this will help. Kianbeng Clutched November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 (edited) sunny having a bad fc is not uncommon. This is typical. There is no problem with your car I feel. Automatic transmission cars have even worse FC compared to manual. That's very typical again. Changing to Ron95 as suggested will probably still maintain your same FC but will save you from burning a hole in your pocket. Grounding cost $100 or so and even if there is any improvement, it's quite minor. edit: Actually come to think of it, 6km/L is way out. There might be some problems some where..... even my neighbour's sunny can clock 400km on 1 tank. He's driving a 6 years old sunny. Robin 4th Gear November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 try changing to 95 and see if there's any difference. for auto version, try not to rev to o high when moving off. perhaps can also consider getting voltage stabilizers (eg RMK, pivot) and after mkt spark plugs and ignition cables. Edcheong Neutral Newbie November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 Hi, I just got my 1.6SS (Auto) last week. The F.C. is not so bad afterall, 12.5 km/Litre. U must be heavy footed. $50 petrol lasted 415 Km. Pumped Ron 98 last week, trying Ron 95 this week to see any different. 70% highway, 30% city. Sometimes off the air-con if not req'd. Wait to see if req'd to put in any additinal hardware like Z-stab, K & N filter, Broquet...... Rgds
Kianbeng Clutched November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 $50 petrol -> 415km? That's quite good right? Coz $50 petrol probably gave you 33litres. So your fc is like 12.5km/litre? sounds reasonable. Yeah I sometimes switch off my aircon when I'm driving late at night or early in the morning when the traffic is not too bad and when the weather is cooling. Ares Neutral Newbie November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 Before trying anything add-ons, take a look at this link http://www.fuelsaving.info/ I have tried broquet and K & N filter. Don't think that they made any diff to my FC. I think our control of our right foot makes all the diff. But using K & N can save a bit on filter replacement. But downside is you have to clean yourself. I don't trust mechnnics to do it for me as they tend to over-oil the filter and that will screw up your MAS. Blackyv Turbocharged November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 well, as what most bro here said..it's very much depends on driving style... my sad story--> if i drive 95% city for a week, Fc can go as low as 7.5km/l but if 60%city 40%HW for a week, Fc shoot up to 10+km/l thats the huge diff on my Vios auto... if go KL, Fc can be as good as 12+km/l (consider very good already as i wack all the way speeding at 140-160kmh most of the time at 4K-5K rpm)
Golfer Neutral Newbie November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 Just talked to a friend with FL 1.6 EX Auto from Dec 03. 11 to 11.5 Km/litre. Drove to Malaysia a couple times. In Spg, driving pattern is 60% HW/ 40% City. Anyway, good info for me as I can only review mine performance in end Jan 05. Hope can hit 11 to 11.5 Km. All Sunny owners I know are ok with shell '95. Blackmamba Neutral Newbie November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 (edited) Hmm another sotong driving with the handbrake on? It is impossible to get only 6km/l from a 1.6 litre car unless u are dragging the car at 5000-6000rpm all the time. Most Sunny users report about between 10-12km/l for auto and 12-14km/l for manual.
