Edcheong Neutral Newbie November 2, 2004 Share November 2, 2004 Hi, What is that ? A device for saving fuel & provide more power ? If it is, I am also interested. Rgds
Jaason Neutral Newbie November 2, 2004 Share November 2, 2004 I am using the older version. The black box type. Wonder what's the diff with the new red box type? Anyway, my ride felt smoother with zistab. Coolder air con and higher rpm. No improvement in term of FC.
Syshi Neutral Newbie November 2, 2004 Share November 2, 2004 I'm using the 3rd gen... feel smoother ride.. and lower rpm... overall, save a lot on FC... change from 14 Km/L to 16 Km/L.. due to lower rpm when change gear. I think the z-stab is useful more for Auto rather than manual
Check13 3rd Gear November 2, 2004 Share November 2, 2004 i had it installed on my ride on sunday too. pick up faster and there's no more hesitation when u press your foot. however, the difference is not like humongous. it's pretty marginal but still noticeable. one bad thing is now my ride has a slight vibration which i can feel on the gear as well as the steering wheel. maybe it takes a while for the ECU to 'learn' and 'adjust' so i'll wait for a while longer before passing judgement on this vibration thing. Civic92 Neutral Newbie November 2, 2004 Share November 2, 2004 I had install a 2nd Gen and works very well for a COE car. (Civic ESI) Smoother cruise, idling is quieter, brighter headlights, more power and of cos, FC gains marginal mileage. (over ram again??) I had tried the 4th Gen but 4th Gen works better for Toyota cars only.(According to the inventor as my Bro In Law knows him personally). Yet to put the 2nd Gen into my new ride, Honda. If you visit the Toyota forum, they are crazy over it.
Tito00 Clutched November 2, 2004 Author Share November 2, 2004 You can view their webiste at www.z-stab.com for more info on what it is. I had used a Gen 4 ex which is also a black box. Felt smoother in gear change and more responsive too. Also change to the red box on Sun..said to be better in its rpm...now only wait for the ecu to adapt to it! :)
Mondeo Neutral Newbie November 2, 2004 Share November 2, 2004 Z-stab needed ECU to adapt it?

Vienta Neutral Newbie November 5, 2004 Share November 5, 2004 Is it going at 150 bucks? If it is, it's a bit too expensive....
XLR8 1st Gear November 5, 2004 Share November 5, 2004 $150 is way too high I feel too. I've nothing against this product but based on the dyno charts in their website, this Z-stab thing did slightly increase the torque and horsepower only at 4000rpm and above BUT if you look the graph in detail, you'll notice that your low end torque and horsepower below 4000rpm actually dropped! And if you scrutinized the torque graph carefully, you will realize that you actually lose a lot of torque at the low end compared to the minimal gains at high rev. Dunno how come they still dare to show it on their website.
Discoburg Supersonic November 6, 2004 Share November 6, 2004 For that price i rather go for the E-power.

But the lower end torque between 2000rpm -2500rpm increased pretty much. This means those fellas light footed will benefit more! But I personnally find it hard to maintain between 2000-2500. usually will reach 3000rpm on Auto.
