Toalson 1st Gear November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 Is it necessary to use microfibre cloth for waxing or polishing, or in my case get the perfect polishing cloth from autogylm?? Btw it looks like a fish net, how 2 use?
Elkh Neutral Newbie November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 had start with the normal cloth (those we use to polish boots in army days)... it took quite long to buff the wax off.. but when i change to the microfiber cloth... it is done much faster.. Marcostan 4th Gear November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 (edited) TOALSON, MF never give u the problem of LINT. The polishing cloth I used before not Autogylm brand did hv lots of lint. Toalson, Just want to highlight to u, using Autogylm u must let the wax or sealant curing at least 1-1.5 hours b4 u can buff off. If u don't wait, it will affect the durable of the wax & or sealant. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! MarcosTan Toyota Rav4 Edited November 3, 2004 by Marcostan
Marcostan 4th Gear November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 CLAZSIQUE, Not just water alone, use car shampoo + water mixture. I never use water alone, so don't know it is smooth enough to let the clay bar run across the car body. Better take my advise, if using water alone and it's really can't make the claying smooth then u hv big porblem. PROBLEM: THE CLAY BAR STICK ON THE CAR BODY AND U MIGHT GET TROUBLE TO TAKE IT OFF. Toalson 1st Gear November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 Hi Marcos, So must use the polishing cloth from Autogylm. And I only saw MF at autobacc. Yes I waited for about an hour then remove the sealant. Buffing it lightly. The shine is indeed different. Maybe bcos of the combination of both polish n sealant. Tks! Toalson 1st Gear November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 (edited) Autogylm do not have wax, they only have sealant (High Gloss Sealant). Edited November 3, 2004 by Toalson
Steelblue Neutral Newbie November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 i don't like the Autoglym polishing clothes, coz not reusable one. Once you wash, that's it, it becomes kiam chai. Rather spend a bit more on MFs, it probably will last you a couple hundred wash?
Marcostan 4th Gear November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 Elkh, Both Polish & Resin and Extra High Gloss sealant need to wait for 1.5 hrs. Believe it or not my last using Autogylm was during National Day Holiday. This took me total 6.5 hours to finish the job. 1.5 hours washing & dry the car 2.0 hours apply Polish & Resin + waiting for curing 0.5 hours buff off the polish & Resin 2.0 hours apply Extra High Gloss Sealant + waiting for curing 0.5 hours buff off the EHGS If I add on claying after washing then it need to take 45 mins more. Autogylm is a great product but U see the time it take is really not worth to do it. This is why now I'm using Klasse product it only take me 2-2.5 hrs to finish the whole process and the result for both is almost the same. (Seems Klasse is a bit more shiny ). Marcostan 4th Gear November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 TOALSON, Steelblue is 200% right. MF is much better than polishing cloth. MarcosTan Toyota Rav4
Toalson 1st Gear November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 Oh so there is need to wait at least an hr for the resin polish to cure before buffing it off? I don recall it being mentioned on the package. Pls advise. Tks!
Elkh Neutral Newbie November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 6.5 hours wow..... for the Klasse product, your 2.5 hrs include washing? mine turtlewax still ok... maybe put another layer or two during the long weekend... it had been raining these few days and i can see water droplets waiting to roll down the paintwork... For sealant and wax, whats the diff?
Toalson 1st Gear November 3, 2004 Share November 3, 2004 (edited) Sealent is said to last longer in our climate. But I realised that the autogylm polish + sealant do not create small beads of water. However the turtlewax created smaller water beads. That's after today's heavy downpour. Edited November 3, 2004 by Toalson
Marcostan 4th Gear November 4, 2004 Share November 4, 2004 TOALSON, If I don't wait 1-1.5 hrs.& if keep raining daily for 2 weeks, the layer was gone. If curing time is enough than it can last at least 4 weeks (Daily raining.). If always sunny day then it can last 3 months and no problem. The resin is never mention this. This all my own experience. For the EHG Sealant the package do mention about the curing time. MarcosTan Toyota Rav4
Marcostan 4th Gear November 4, 2004 Share November 4, 2004 TOALSON, Small or Large beads is all depend on the product itself. Some give u small some give u large some never form beads but it sheet away the water. MarcosTan Toyota Rav4
Marcostan 4th Gear November 4, 2004 Share November 4, 2004 (edited) ELKH, Yes, my 2.5 hrs is included washing & drying. (May be 2.5 is a bit too fast but never more than 3 hrs. for sure.) 1.5 hrs for washing & drying. 0.5 hrs to apply & buff off Klasse All in One cleaner wax 0.5 hrs to apply & buff off Klasse Sealant and the result is This is why I don't use Autoglym or other product anymore. For our sunny island the wax can last only a few weeks the max. (some last only one week, used these kind of wax just waste energy). But sealant can last more than 2 months or even more said 3-4 months but I don't think it can last up to six months as some product claims. For my case, the sealant on my ride should last forever. Why? I layering the sealant weekly.....every week....CRAZY...CRAZY???
