Open pod plus SAFC necessary?

Hi folks,

I am thinking of doing an open pod but apparently, after a discussion with my mechanic, he actually told me that for optimum efficiency, we still need to regulate the amount of air that is being sucked in.

This brings to mind on the SAFC (since my ride is SOHC) being thrown in between the piping and the engine. Is this necessary?

Say ... for excessive air intake, what happens? Pro and cons?
