Roadblock Neutral Newbie January 1, 2002 Share January 1, 2002 Doc... this is interesting. Have you heard any one using it in the UK? Oh my god, so many car add-ons and accessories in the market we are all spoilt for choice. Quote 10K Boost: Anyone seen this product in SG? DoctorDrake Neutral Newbie January 6, 2002 Author Share January 6, 2002 (edited) Well, it IS a UK product. Apparently used by those in the know because it works! Yes, many many things you can spend your hard-earned $$$ on. I am trying to keep my own maintenance regime and product use as simple as possible. I'm not a petrolhead so the less I have to do to keep my car looking good and functioning well the better. Turbobrick Neutral Newbie January 6, 2002 Share January 6, 2002 Hi Doc, checked out the product and it's 25UK pounds! That's almost S$65, wat a expensive carb spray! Well, donno about it's full potential so cannot tell much but the price does tell that it should be dandy good product.
DoctorDrake Neutral Newbie January 6, 2002 Author Share January 6, 2002 Ouch! But then again, if it keeps the engine in good shape then its probably worth it. Their web site recommends use every 8000+ miles (12,800 km), which is coincidentally the recommended service interval for VAG engines in the UK and US. For us Skoda owners the service interval is 10,000 km, which is close enough. Incidentally, on the issue of coking, did you read about Shell's new V-Power 98 octane petrol? It's been specially engineered for Singapore road conditions with faster burning molecules. It will replace Shell's XO petrol all across the island, and should already be available this weekend. Shell claims that it burns more completely and more cleanly, providing a little extra power and torque. Read about it in the ST. This special formulation for Singapore was developed by Shell in Singapore. It isn't the same formulation as V-Power available say in Malaysia. Turbobrick Neutral Newbie January 6, 2002 Share January 6, 2002 The cost of the 10k boost is not really worth the "cleaning" IMHO, just change oil more often and dump in a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner for self assurance. Best de-coking exercise is the go up the NS and whack high rpms for a couple of minutes, to keep speed reasonable floor in 3rd gear or disengage overdrive for autos. V-power? Sounds awfully indentical to the Malaysian variant, does that mean that the Malaysians already have the "more efficient fuel" than SG since last year??? DoctorDrake Neutral Newbie January 6, 2002 Author Share January 6, 2002 According to the article, the V-Power formulation in Singapore is different from the one in Malaysia. But it could all be marketing BS anyway. Will give it a try once I get my car back, but it's really pretty subjective anyway unless we can do measurements on a dynometer.
