Seansene 1st Gear September 27, 2004 Share September 27, 2004 (edited) How to define "lurking" ? Am I a "lurker" if I just hang around and read posts without saying much ? Apparently... but don't worry about it. Everyone's got their own forum habits, and not everyone is so eng (or interested to be checking in every minute). So it's what suits you Edited September 27, 2004 by Seansene
Arkaneslayer Neutral Newbie September 27, 2004 Share September 27, 2004 Quote ... Follow the correct protocol. If you want to pass a vehicle in front, approach to a safe distance, flash your highbeam, if no response, flash again twice. If still no response, flash & toot your horn (not blast your horn). He should have noticed you by now & will take the approriate action when it is safe to do so. If he still refuses to give way, then he is roadhogging. Cheers what makes you think by following your "right" protocol people will give way to you? Your protocol may even piss some people off ... and after executing your so-called "protocol" and the front car is still roadhogging then wat? cry father cry mother izzit? you are still back to square one ... behind the roadhogger! "" I think another equally big problem is roadhogging. As mentioned, if you are not overtaking, then you have to keep left. It is not that you keep to the right until somebody comes along behind you. Even if nobody is around and you want to drive fast, you are supposed to keep left until you need to overtake. Want examples ? No need to go to Europe, on NS highway folks also generally well-behaved.

If doing it the way I mentioned will piss someone off then I guess the guy is probably pretty pissed to start with So you tell me, what do you think is the proper procedure to pass somebody in front of you??? Maybe we can learn something from you.

Weetiong Neutral Newbie September 28, 2004 Share September 28, 2004 imho, if drive slow on lane 1, then d driver should b driving on left or middle lane. if not, he/she become a road-hogger. Quote drive too slow on lane 1 ? just ease off accelerator... let the bugger do the overtaking...
Weetiong Neutral Newbie September 28, 2004 Share September 28, 2004 provided d car in front is not road-hogging. d right lane is meant for overtaking, not meant for driving below speed limit. slow veh, pls keep left. :) Quote the tailgating driver will always be in the disadvantage.in the event of accident, the rear driver is at fault. din keep safety distance, can claim his insurance, & his front engine compartment maybe damaged. a lesson for all tailgaters! Weetiong Neutral Newbie September 28, 2004 Share September 28, 2004 WELL SAID! :) Quote I recently had a black Focus tail me on BKE. I was going 100km/h & centre lane full of slower vehicles. I just continued as normal. If there is a faster car behind you ... why not give him way. 100 kph does not give you red carpet treatment on the Expressway. Do you know what kind of an Emergency that guy is in ?? If you dont, then just let him pass. Leave the speed control works to the Traffic Police I am sure you can signal left ... let him pass and then get back to Lane 1 and continue at 100 kph. Best part when I came to slip road to PIE, I didn't slow down & want to see if the idiot got guts & skill to follow me. Just like I thought, he no balls & no skill to follow. He slow down to about 60km/h & I left him far far away. I dun understand this ... on the Expressway ... you go 100 kph ... on slip roads where you have to slow down to 50 kph ... you show your skill ... why ?? If he slows down to 60 kph and you can leave him far far away ... that means you were way over 50 kph right ?? I think skill is about knowing when you are hogging others and knowing areas that you should never be speeding On the public road , its not about Racing Skills ... its about Safety Skills ... I think we should get that priority correct
Weetiong Neutral Newbie September 28, 2004 Share September 28, 2004 dun sound like responsible driving, imho... ========================= Replying to : Pisces69 Post: He's damm lucky I didn't slow to 50km/h & let him follow me all the way to the end of the BKE and let's see what he wants to do then. Mavvy Clutched September 28, 2004 Share September 28, 2004 if everyone thinks liddat.. SG traffic would be bery smooth... too bad... a few or one would just HOG the entire lane...
Conservative Neutral Newbie September 28, 2004 Share September 28, 2004 Agree but I think its not a few or one, its more and more roadhoggers. Coming up behind roadhoggers, the impatient drivers then start overtaking on the left. Last I checked, that maneuvere is still illegal, and causes its own problems, eg. when car in front starts to filter left to get out of way and the speeding car behind also overtakes from the left instead of waiting. ↡ Advertisement
