Ladydriver Neutral Newbie September 18, 2004 Share September 18, 2004 Hello friends, very angry news, just found out my car was vandalised leaving long scratches and deep dents all over the car parked in open, no choice but to go for expensive respray. Had even scratches on the windscreen !! Any suggestions on how to get rid of deep hard scratches on the glass ? Will car polishes work ? Also, anyone has better ideas on how to 1) prevent vandals eg. dont buy car 2) catch vandals eg. car alarms ? 3) punish vandals eg. castration ? Thanks. ↡ Advertisement
Tien Neutral Newbie September 18, 2004 Share September 18, 2004 some workshops are able to mend small chips in windscreen, i guess they can help you too. the process is pretty common overseas but not so in sg. still, there are a few in sg. maybe other bros here can help, if they know the shop name. cheer up girl, not totally hopeless yet

Ladydriver Neutral Newbie September 20, 2004 Author Share September 20, 2004 Thanks guys, I was hoping for DIY, I think the repair will costs lots. Already spent $1k or more to respray. Looked for glass polishers but nothing in car shops. Maybe will try some rubbing compound on the glass ? Yes, reported to police, and mine is relatively new car, but nothing expensive, just simple altis, why must punish us ? Good idea park next to flashing LEDs. Mine is open CP but my husband also washes it elsewhere then drives it back, now whenever we wash/wax or just vaccum the car we imagine 100 pairs of evil eyes watching us from everywhere, really stressful. Jesse_james Neutral Newbie September 21, 2004 Share September 21, 2004 (edited) try a spy cam... i have one installed to face the front- it is motion sensored so it captures 2 shots every 3 secs into a little device that be connected to your TV. And then you just scroll the pics via a remote control. It even captures pics clearly at night.. call addy from prestige security.. or buzz me for his contact number., PS I only have one so the way I park is important.. you can choose to buy 2 units.. Ladydriver Neutral Newbie September 22, 2004 Author Share September 22, 2004 Hi thanks. er...next question is, whats the cost ? Motion sensored means it takes pics only if someone is in the vicinity ? Does it also work as an alarm, and if so, is it 2 way ?
Jesse_james Neutral Newbie September 23, 2004 Share September 23, 2004 It is not 2 way. The cam only takes a pic when there is motion detected, eg pple walking infront of the camera. Less than 600 bucks per piece. It is not alarm. I am using the Boomerang currently as a separate alarm device.

Capricorn Neutral Newbie September 26, 2004 Share September 26, 2004 Huh, thought the other day you posted b4? Is your car being vandalised again ? Have you tried claiming for your insurance? Coz thing 1st party insurance might cover... Hello friends, very angry news, just found out my car was vandalised leaving long scratches and deep dents all over the car parked in open, no choice but to go for expensive respray. Ladydriver Neutral Newbie September 27, 2004 Author Share September 27, 2004 capricorn, yes, its the same situation but posted in separate section. Reason it posted here also because I wanted to focus on the repair, and looks like in this detailing section here got more experts on this. Sorry to confuse. However wont be surprised if it happened again ! Dont think that the vandals have a code of conduct where car can only be vandlaised once in its lifetime, I hear of many repeat victims. After what happened to the poor old lady ex teacher who tried to claim from NTUC, I think better not !! Insurance now reserved only use for really expensive cases.... As i remember, those that were caught were elderly pple, middle aged but no young kids. I think it's more the jealously thing here. They see other pple buy new car, polish until so shining & they got not enough money to buy a new TV, loansharks on their back or family member been retrenched & cannot get a job. Alot of fustration out there among singaporeans. Strive to succeed also cannot make it, loss of face. I think pride is basically to blame for many of our social problems. I feel it's no point having something nice or expensive if you can't protect it properly. Even my old car gets vandalised sometimes. Especially after a good waxing. Sad but true.
