I had the woodstock dab52 before. Loved the dab. The FM was very bad though. The dab53 is supposed to be exactly the same with added recording function right? Where did you get yours? I hope the installer did a proper job.

i think DAB reception in S'pore has ample room for improvement IMHO. wanted to get the DAB52 bcos have read abt the wonderful benefits of DAB. went down to Pin Liang and sat in one of the bosses' car. drove around zion/havelock road area to try out the headset...

 

The reception switched between DAB and analogue quite often and it annoyed the hell out of me bcos there was a noticeable diff when the switch occured. even the boss was quite embarrassed and didn't dare to push the product any further after the test drive...

 

to be fair, the zion/havelock rd area does have quite a few buildings. but on 2nd thought, the area resembles a typical HDB estate. cannot imagine using the DAB headset along the robinson/anson road area with surrounding skyscrapers...

Stupid reception is soooooo jialat.... and they dare to price it so high some more.

 

This radio belongs to the league of cheapo stuffs that don't work as advertised...

I used the DAB52 for almost a year. The DAB is crystal clear. Only had reception problem when the car is under a roof. The auto DAB/FM switching is really irritating, but can be disable. There is also this periodic pausing due to the traffic announcement feature which needs to be disable. Mediacorp doesn't support this feature. Can't remember what other things to set already.

I m using DAB52, and I hv to say that the reception is great!! As long as its in the open, it will get reception. I would say that installation is impt. The 1st time they installed it, they didnt ground my DAB ant. The reception is really unpredictable then. After groundin the ant, things are sweet!!
