Hoppe Clutched September 13, 2004 Share September 13, 2004 got this problem with my old Swift the last time. Going up and down like yo-yo. Problem was due to some oil issue with the clutch (oil jamming something at the clutch) according to my mechanic. Dunno the actual problem but the rpm's been stable and not going up and down now. Ghostrider 3rd Gear September 13, 2004 Share September 13, 2004 Check the following Your spark plugs....unscrew them and smell if any of them has a strong petrol smell. If it appears black...if so, chances are the plug is screwed or the igintion cable is faulty. Check the cables and see if any of them is not sparking...you can ask your workshop to check for you. If all if find...it could be you have a throttle body problem...open it up and ask your workshop to clean it and see if it solves your proble. Hattee Neutral Newbie September 13, 2004 Share September 13, 2004 If you didn't have this problem before changing intake, might be ECU trying hard to compensate for excessively lean mixture due to somewhere leaking now. Try putting back your original intake and see if it helps. hiya bros and sis...me have this prob....my rpm is constantly gng up and down...sometimesbetween 1500 to 2000...sometimes between 1200 to 1500...then sometimes stable and not moving...wonder y.....at traffic lights....so peisay...cars beside think i jioing them....rev-ing my engine...but my foot not even on the pedal....any ideas???....wat could be the cause of such prob??? can pls enlighten??? Vtim 3rd Gear September 14, 2004 Share September 14, 2004 don't think it's advisable to do that, EK is B16A, DC2 is B18A but I could be wrong, best is for you to ask that question in SHC

Check that all your vacuum hoses are properly connected and no leaks.
Vtim 3rd Gear September 16, 2004 Share September 16, 2004 throttle body sure got one but if your starlet is Carb & not Fuel Injection, then no MAF sensor MAF = Mass Air Flow sensor, it'll sense the amount of Air going in so that the ECU will know how much of Fuel to inject
Hang_kilat Neutral Newbie September 16, 2004 Share September 16, 2004 ahhh okay then, mines a carb so there's no MAF. one less thing to worry...

Bring back to your service centre. Most probably it's your MAF. Had the same problem with my previous Matrix. Lucky still under warranty then.
