That's right, there is just too many repeat similar problems which the forumers should searh the archive for advices rather than posting the problems. I believe many of us sometimes get sick of repeating all over again the same old story.

Yes, thread chasing is actually removing ( not cutting new metal ) dirts and other foreign matters. The professional way is to drill an over size hole and place in thread insert. This way you get a good thread hole which is as good as new.

The solution is simple. Ask your mechanic to remove the bolts from under the oil pan and remove the cover. Bring the cover to any metal engineering company and tell them the problem. They will drill off the tread with a slightly larger diameter drill bit. They will then tap a new over-sized tread. Use a matching oversized bolt and a copper washer and you are done.

Thanks for the explanation. So it's necessary to change the drain plug gasket every time an oil change is performed?

Its cheap. I think 5cents and some places just give it to you free.

You can get away by flipping it at every change. Someone did this and it lastest 7 oil changes.

If every forumer comes back to report on the fix, everyone will get more knowledgeable and that should be the way. But at present moment hardly they report back, some log in to request for help & info and then disappear into thin air, not even a word of appreciation.

What do you regular forumers think ?

well, these may be another group...juz come in get advice w/o the intention of comeing back..unsure.gif
