Neutral Newbie

Bros,

anyone know where i can find online info on the above?

Told that it is a house brand of Falken...wonder if it is a newly developed brand or acquire brand?

I was told that it was formerly from Bridgestone, then sold off to Falken???? Is it true, i am curious to know...thanx! I wonder if my friend mistook Firenza as Firestone or Turanza which both belongs to Bridgestone.....

Anyway, I have just change to Firenza verdict is that for 75 bucks for 15 inches 195/50....it is consider value for money. I drove a Fit, so dun need too performance and i dun mind sacrifice a bit of comfort for the extra bit more grip in wet weather as compared to the stock Aspec DB....

Thanks

Firenza ST-03 are Potenza SO3 knock-offs. They are very good in the dry but lots of torque steer in the wet as told by many US users.

As usual, the price can be beaten.

Firenza and grip don't come together.

Had the ST-03 for one year and swop to Hankook Ventus K104. Difference is like day and night.

Firenza's problems :

1. Understeer

2. Aquaplanes easily

3. Poor grip

4. Noisy after about 10000km

The only good thing was that the Firenza are really quiet when new.

Firenza is the "house-brand" of Stamford Tyres, more info at:

http://www.stamfordtyres.com/tpl/products_firenza.html

Excerpt taken from Stamford Tyres financial report:

"Firenza, our proprietary brand of high performance passenger car tyres made in Japan, enjoys good acceptance by the end users. To further increase market penetration, a new line of Firenza tyres to be manufactured in Indonesia will be introduced in the second half of this financial year. The Group will also introduce "Made in Malaysia" Continental tyres. These new tyre lines will enjoy the preferential AFTA tariff rate of 5.0 percent and are expected to enhance the Group's turnover within the ASEAN region."

The Firenza ST-03 (I'm using 195/55R15) aren't any better. shakehead.gif

Just last week, when an Integra cut in front of me and braked, I applied a moderate amount of pressure and the wheels locked up and I skidded on the slightly damp road (almost hitting the stupid Integra) shocked.gif

Oddly enough, aquaplaning is not an issue even in torrential weather, and wet cornering is quite acceptable.

Dry grip is good enough for mid-corner lane change and post-apex acceleration doesn't induce too much understeer.

But trail braking in the wet and simple straight line wet braking can actually bring my heart to my throat... The only time I felt that frightened was when I had to brake from more than 160 in the wet on the NS highway...lipsrsealed.gif

I've just hit 9,000km and I feel lilke changing tyres. thumbsdown.gif

The only good thing is probably the worst thing now.... the tyres definite last longer than Falken ST115s. I think they are twice as durable, and should last 40-50,000km easily... even with hard driving.

But I don't think I can wait that long to change unsure.gif
