Increasing the volume of Car Audio ?

One stupid qn. My current HU (Clarion, MP3) combined with speakers seem to be rather weak in volume. Turned until vol. 10 but quite soft. Need to tune to at least vol 16 everytime.

Will adding a cheap amplifier boost the lower end volume?

BTW, what's the cheapest amplifier available? [confused]

wah 30!

That's high.

So, it seems that Vol 16-17 range is rather standard on any cars.

BTW, what's the cheapest amp that you can recommend? Price incl installation.

Firstly, disregard the volume settings and ask yourself this question. Are you enjoying your system? If it is, don't bother. The settings doesn't really matter.

the number is relative.. so long as you listen to it at a level which suits you.

unless of course you want to improve on other aspects like bass and tonal definition, then of course it's a different ballgame altogether.

thanks for the pm. Will note the info given. [thumbsup]

Sound quality is great when volume is turned up, so I won't bother to change it for now. [rolleyes]

Sorry to revive this old thread.

My ICE seems to go softer these days. Confirmed with my spouse unless both of us going deaf at the same time.

I haven't changed any setup since years.

When I turned up the volume to higher the sounds became a bit muddled without getting much louder.

On the following:

Clarion HU

Alpine 4 ch amp FX4 - very old dude think more than 10 yrs. bought 2nd hand

Hertz component spkrs - DSK165.

Half- suspect is the amp. Anyway to confirm other than bringing to a ICE installer to chk?

Will also appreciate any recommendation of good ICE shops that can troubleshoot.

Thanks in advance.
