Madarmour Neutral Newbie March 8, 2002 Share March 8, 2002 How's the condition of the suspension system? Sometimes a spray of WD-40 to the source may do the trick, if the squeaking part is not due to damage.
Smallgasghost Neutral Newbie March 8, 2002 Author Share March 8, 2002 Ooops... forgot to mention that it squeaks when i brake.
Madarmour Neutral Newbie March 8, 2002 Share March 8, 2002 Did you recently changed pads? I recently changed mine and there's occasional squeaking too, nothing wrong with that. Also look for uneven wear on the disc, may be warped and if that's the case, needs skimming.
Smallgasghost Neutral Newbie March 8, 2002 Author Share March 8, 2002 Did you recently changed pads? Hahaha... that one never fail to crack me up... The front disc pads were change couple of months ago... the back drums were never touched... I think the squeaking brake sound is more from the back... and it only sounds when initial drive off... after a while no more sound.
Sky8807 1st Gear March 8, 2002 Share March 8, 2002 For the front brake pads, Cleaning and smoothing the pads to even it out may solve the problem if it is not too worn near to limits otherwise if the pads are nearing the wear limits sound will appear for some pads. For the rear, need to check the brake piston to see whether it is jammed if not cleaning the drum will do.
Ek69 Neutral Newbie March 8, 2002 Share March 8, 2002 I've the same problem months back. A mechanic told me to change back to original brake pads for my honda and it works for both front (disc) and back(drum). No more sound since then.....give it a try......... Madarmour Neutral Newbie March 9, 2002 Share March 9, 2002 If you're sure the sound's from the back drums, you may have no choice but to take it for inspection. So new pads for you too huh?
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie March 9, 2002 Share March 9, 2002 Probably need to clean the brake dust out of the drums. They accumulate and start causing noise when braking or moving off. Get a mech to air blast the dust out for you. ↡ Advertisement
