i have read quite a fair bit abt close ratio gearbox, all claim to be able to hit optimum RPM faster and stay within optimum RPM for respective powerbands of each gear.

other than higher fuel consumption, i havent found out other disadvantages. anyone can enlighten me? thks.

i think it actually shortens the powerband. i also read tht the low end becomes more torquey at the expense of the top end.

ok seems like the disadvantages of close ratio gear box arent that serious.

any idea wats the significance of the specs of the final drive?

hmm...very surprising leh...

if the powerband is shorten what's the use of having so much low end torque? i tot more gears is suppose to address the lost of range at the higher end?

hmm, let's wait for other experts to comment
