Whoa...what a super long thread! (but an informative one thumbsup.gif)

Happen to buy the Fusso 12mth liquid thingy today. But chanced upon this thread after....

So me abit confused over some of the feedback/advice dished out. Lemme see if i interpreted it correctly. For the Fusso 12 to work well:

i) do i or do i not polish the car b4 applying Fusso 12? some say it will not bond if a layer of wax is below; some say a polishing a layer of wax after Fusso 12 will polish away the sealant. dizzy.gif

ii) assuming it's better to polish b4 F12, would Hi-Glaze 88 be ideal? any bonding issues?

iii) i was using Zymol Cleaner Wax (has some carnuba wax inside) - excellent results. advisable to use this to supplement the F12?

iii) or is F12 simply meant to work juz on it's own? (i.e wax incl in the formulation, hence last longer and the need to buff unlike F9?)

Yah damn long thread... bombarded with tonnes of questions until i also blur! [sweatdrop]

Anyway..

1) Yes recommended to polish before F12. Use a pure polish with no wax. but if ur paint condition is good just wash ur car with a stronger mix of car wash solution and apply f12 after drying.

2)No experience with Hi-Glaze but looks promising considering that Hi-Glaze does not contain wax. Bonding issues i really dont know sorry..

3)Zymol cleaner wax wont work with f12. f12 cant bond on it and zymol will remove f12 if u try to coat zymol on f12. so they are substitutes.

4)f12 is pure sealant. it requires paint prep before application and is not for most users. thats why quite a number of bros report some problems when using f12. BUT! if ur paint is in good condition f12 on its own is enuf to seal and protect the paint.

Cheers!

Oic....thumbsup.gif

But read somewhere that some professional detailers who are using PTFE sealant do not use wax as a base. Reason being that it's better for the acrylic sealant to seal the surface of acrylic clear coat paint as acrylic to acrylic bond produces the best adhesion properties thus forming a protective shield against corrosion, oxidation, ultra-violet rays, pollution & salt.

Any views on this?

No sorry too chim for me.. [sweatdrop] anyway if might be true because acrylic polishes like autoglym super resin polish, Klasse AIO and Mothers reflections are the most popular base coats for detailing enthusiasts.

Personally I use AIO then a pure wax.

Cheers!

Just bought the Fusso 12-month (liq type).

Is it ok to polish with AutoGlym SRP then apply Fusso12 then Meguair Gold Class Wax?

Was using the Meguair #26 Polymer Sealant but it seems to wear off very fast... Gave up.

Drummer,

It shall be ok to apply Fusso after SRP.

IMHO, you shall not apply GCW over the Fusso. The reason is GCW do contain

cleaner, if you do apply over the Fusso. I think it will take off the

Fusso Coating.

Just my two cents.

Hi Drummer, just to confirm did you use #20 Polymer Sealant or #26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax ?

I used the Zymol cleaner wax to clean up any ingrained crap first and then apply a layer of F12 over it. Works great.thumbsup.gif

As F12 is in liquid form, it's very easy to apply. But it does leave a slightly oily film and not easy to buff off as what the other bros experienced. Best to use a very thin layer and let it haze dry b4 buffing. But it sucks in trying to get any stains out of the paint. The beading effect after this morning's rain is fabulous tho.

Does Zymol has the same effect as clay bars or its just to clean away the previous rounds of wax? Feel that the surface is getting a bit rough. Its only 4 months old! [bigcry]

Zymol's not same as claybar. It's a liquid wax but has cleaning agents in it. Decided to use it to 'clean' the paintwork first as the F12 was so smooth that it couldn't even rub off dried water spots(and it wasn't even a stain!).

If yr paint not too bad condition, tink claybar may not realli be necessary as it's main job is to pick up rough bits.

F12 does not contain any cleaning agents. If your China is good enuf, you can decipher a bit of the ingredients....

- Fusso (PTFE / Teflon)

- Wax

- Solvent / Petroleum distillates (meant to stabilse the product - esesntially as I understand it from the chemists, ingredient A cannot mix with B [e.g., oil and water]; But C goes along with both A & B; so use C to make them co-exist together).

That's why cannot get any stains out....

For F7 - there is this thingie called cleaning agent (xi jie qi). Can cross-verify that with Soft99's cleaning products to see if I right or not....

Hi Marcos,

How about NXT wax? I just applied my ride with Fusso 12, then with NXT wax. I heard somewhere in this forum that NXT wax is also a cleaner wax. How true is it? Will it also remove the Fusso 12?

Thanks

Hammy,

I'm afraid u are right. NXT do hv cleaner but I hope it's not that strong to remove

the Fusso coating.

Please take note, Fusso is cosidered as LSP ( Last Step Product ), so it's not advisable

to add other thing on top of it. U can layering but not apply another thing other then

Pure Carnuba Wax.

So IMHO, if you do want to add the wet look just apply the Pure Carnuba Wax. But after

you applied Pure Carnuba Wax, u can't layering the Fusso anymore. U can only layering

the Carnuba Wax. This is all because of bonding issue. The pure sealant like Fusso is

not going to bond with Carnuba Wax, but the other way round Carnuba wax can bond over the

sealant. (Correct me if I'm wrong [blush] ).

Hope this help.

Hammy - There is cleaner in NXT wax but only strong even to clean the surface (not to the extend of removing sealant), to prepare the surface for better bonding. NXT itself is also a sealant so should have no problem bonding with Fusso 12 should you decide to top Fusso 12 over NXT.

I have tried both Fusso 12 and NXT, I prefer the look of NXT.

Anyone knows how to clean the sponge that comes wif the Fusso 12 after using it? Was thinking of soaking in detergent but not sure if the residual may be corrosive on the paint when re-using it in future.
