David Clutched October 12, 2002 Share October 12, 2002 (edited) Own this Luxury Edition for abt 3 mths, average per litre abt 9~9.5km. If I change the tyre to say R16(current R14), do you think the mileage will improve? Edited November 18, 2002 by Turbobrick ↡ Advertisement
RadX Moderator October 12, 2002 Share October 12, 2002 (edited) In theory, the larger the tyres, the more contact on the ground, and thus, mileage economy deteriorates. Marginally, depending on the tyres. Ecoconti are goood economical tyres as they reduce drag, again on paper. A gud balance should be 15", and out of curiosity, are urs 17570 R14? If so, wat pressure do u pump?? Edited October 12, 2002 by E46RadX
Rainbowsix Neutral Newbie October 12, 2002 Share October 12, 2002 Generally upsizing your tires should see a drop in mileage as explained by E46RadX. However, u will be able to get better handling in terms of cornering. Another minus point is that your pick up will also be slower since there is no contact resistance between the tires and the ground. Finally, the plus point is that it looks really good! One advice for u is to consider upsize to 15" rather than 16". The reason besides being cost as the tires for a 16" rim is those low profile type which tends to wear out quite fast compared to a 15". At the end of the day, as long as u are happy, that is most important!
Sky8807 1st Gear October 12, 2002 Share October 12, 2002 If you change tyre as stated, your mileage will NOT improve. Only thing that improve is the look, dry grip and higher conering speed. The rest suffer, like power, economy, aqua planning, cost and noise.
Mondeo Neutral Newbie October 12, 2002 Share October 12, 2002 U mean the whole wheel or only tyre?
Hitman Neutral Newbie October 12, 2002 Share October 12, 2002 Ooooo ... Nissans have a reputation with concerns to high fuel consumption, compared to Hondas and Toyotas. I am not too sure about improving mileage by much by changing tyres ....

If I change the tyre to say R16(current R14), do you think the mileage will improve? Welcome to MCF!! Be active here and join our meetups!! Wow!! think yours is really Luxurious Edition... 9~9.5km/litre is kind of.... In any case, upsizing to 16" rims & tyres.... will improve on looks and grip .... as for fuel consumption.... i upgrade to 16" rims & tyres just about the time i do my grounding and Apollo .... so my fuel consumption now is slightly better than before!!
