Neutral Newbie

I changed all 4 tires to ES100s 3400km ago. I'd presume they're all well scrubbed in.

I noticed that they tend to start screeching pretty early into hard corners - do you notice that?

A friend with AVS Sports noticed a similar thing too.

That's not to say the grip suddenly gives or is lacking, but i'd really like to verify that these set of tires tend to scream a little earlier round corners?

Hi,

If your car tyres start screeching when cornering, it is a clear sign that you are travelling way too fast above the legal speed limit.

Pleae slow down and be a safe and considerate road user. Thanks!

I'm talking about cornering hard on these tires. These ES100s do grip better, and I think I can push higher cornering speeds while still maintaining grip. Haven't had the chance to (and would rather not get the chance to) test out wet weather performance, as in like e-braking in the wet etc cos I tend to be a lot more cautious in the wet.

The ES100s seem to have a big 'zone' where it screeches not too loud when u corner hard. Between not screeching and screeching loudly when cornering, other tires seem to have very little in between. I just find the ES100s seem to have this 'range' of in between, which I don't feel too secure with cos like what one of you said, these screeching a little sounds should only come on as a warning when u're close to the limit.

I guess I'll really find out only when the car hits the tracks.

Wondering if I should have gotten G3s instead.

BTW Vit4wd, no thanks for the off topic post. I only needed to hear about opinions on the ES100s and the like, so appreciate it if we could just keep on topic.

had my previous ES100s for 34k and they are not bad tho i won't say they're very grippy. i would say tyre screech was minimal. but steering feel wasn't really great.

How fast was the car when this happen? This is something new shocked.gif

Pretty fast actually because i like to corner hard once in a while. only times. Referring to CTE (city bound) exiting to moulmien (left hander), about 80 in dry, the traction lost instantly. Happened on a few occasions. So i told myself, no more ES100 forever for me.

Yes, I think you should have gotten G3s. ES100 running in tracks are unpredictable. As you may have noticed, the edge of ES100 is pretty sharp. Even though i managed to round the edge eventually through hard cornerings, it just doesn't get any better. In wet, it's a total goner so i strongly suggest that you don't push it in wet. Unless you have great drifting techniques to counter which i don't have. [:/]

aww crap. made the wrong decision then. never used either ES100s or G3s before and just went with the more aggressive looking one. actually thought the edges of the ES100s were rounder compared to the G3s. But what the heck, I think the G3s would have been a better buy.

If the ES100s are so crap, wonder how much crappier are the ASPEC DBs then?

Thanks for the feedback cordia_gsr. will be careful especially in the wet. mine's a FWD lah, so no drifting for me. not like i would be able to in a RWD.

Btw, any idea how many track sessions to wear a set off?

yes, dun just go for looks. looks sometimes can be decieving. ASPEC DBs are hopeless, no screeching at all and then next thing, you are doing donuts. [laugh] even though sharp, the G3s blend and round to the contour very quickly after the run-in period. i have another one in mind, dunlop direzza. so far, one of my mates are running them and his feedback is good. besides, it's cheaper than G3. [thumbsup]

ES100 makes alot of noise! [;)] It can be quite a 'showy' tire, cos it makes all the right noises even if you're not turning that fast.

2 bad things. It takes quite a while to warm them up... and progressively longer as the tire ages. Another problem would be the noise it makes, as there is no warning between when it start making all those noises and when it finally loses it. [sweatdrop]
