Hensony Clutched March 6, 2002 Share March 6, 2002 My car's 20,000 km limit is almost up. Thus it's time to flush my auto trans and do a complete change of the ATF. Any bros here can advise which workshop has the lowest price? I used to do it in JB. But I got to bring in my own ATF (which is illegal as the item is taxable). ATF bought from Esso at $6.50 per bottle. Bought 10 bottles. M'sia workshop charged me RM50 for the labour. Thus total price is about SGD 90. Is there any local workshop whose price comes close to SGD 90? Thanks ↡ Advertisement
Legacyb4 Neutral Newbie March 6, 2002 Share March 6, 2002 Hi there, Sori din get yr car model so I assume u are using 10-11 ltrs for flushing. Seee that u done flushing at 20K. I was recommended to do mine abt 45-50K. I done ATF flushing b4 at BVO @Sin Ming & labor is $50/= As for the ATF, it needs abt 50% more than the ATF sump. My car needs abt 9.2ltrs so I need abt 15-16 ltrs for flushing. Sat on the car shifting the auto gear whilst the fluids circulates & strain the particles out form the ATF thru this dialysis looking machine, thats where the remaining 50% ATF gone into this $10K+ machine. Took me abt 1-1.5 hrs during which the gears need to be running for complete flushing. At MotorImage, they charge only $40/= svc & only 9.5 ltrs which is actually reasonable. The Mobil ATF is abt $6.90/ltr so the total cost is $115.50/= all in. If you use synthetic ATF, BVO supplies them at $17.50/ltr & this said to lasts longer as well as more "cushion" ride then the mineral one.
Hensony Clutched March 7, 2002 Author Share March 7, 2002 Hi, Thanks for sharing your info. Mine is an auto 1998 Ford Laser. It's a 1.6. My previous flushing required about 9 litres. Going at $6.90 per litre with a labour charge of $40, my estimated total bill should be $102.10. Looks reasonable. Thanks once again for the info. Have a nice day! Turbobrick Neutral Newbie March 7, 2002 Share March 7, 2002 Subjective on the interval, depends on how hot your tranny is and how much it degrades the ATF. For my brick, I have to flush every 20k using mineral ATF but with Syn ATF that I'm using now, after 40k and it still is reddish pink and does not have the burnt smell. I'm gonna flush out the syn ATF soon (i.e. 40k) for cheap insurance, auto tranny re-cond not cheap siah!

Turbobrick Neutral Newbie March 7, 2002 Share March 7, 2002 At the market (with a Shell station next to it) turn right after the shell station and a row of coffee shops U'd see a corner workshop with a large BOSCH signboard. They have tranny flush for RM50 labor.
Mondeo Neutral Newbie March 7, 2002 Share March 7, 2002 Although JB ATF no much cheaper but it's still cheap, plus the labour is much more cheaper, I suggest to do it in JB (sometime they might got the package- much cheaper)

Something like if you are a heavy driver like me (50KM per day) and click 10KM within 4 months, you gotto change. Not a must but if you luv your baby, give her the best. I drive a corolla auto 2001.
