SUV is a overkill in SG road however, for those who are keen in tucson may consider the KIA sportage which is better looking than tucson by miles, furthermore the interior is better as claimed by others who seen it. hyundai car always score lower in the looks department

SUVs like the Mitsubishi Pajero and Toyota Landcruiser Prado may be considered as overkill for our roads, but small softroaders like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRV should be okay. Some people like them for their safety, since they are built tougher than your average sedan, while the elevated seating positions help a little. And they don't guzzle and pollute any more than mid-sized family saloons like the Toyota Camry or the Honda Accord.

Hmmm...compare the CRV to the Odyssey, similiar acceleration, Odyssey has better handling, better cargo space and lesser consumption. ANd is about $3-5k cheaper.

Any sort of SUV, Softroader or whatever is a blight on the roads.

And while people perceive that they are safer, SUVs are actually more likely to get into accidents in the first place, and are more likely to be involved in "roll over" accidents.

I would go for car over suv in Singapore context any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Just saw the ad for the tucson from komoco

Region of $80000 for 2 litre engine with 6 speed auto

2 litre is too small for the Tucson - it will accelerate like the titanic.

Secondly, as most would opening declared, these beast give you a higher rate of survival in any given crash. Because of their construction, they are more "SAFE" which is generally true. Does not mean that if you drive slowly, keep left and stay clear of traffic in front of you, you are SAFE. It is usually the unexpected head-on that would kill most ! Imagine, a head on between a Picanto and a Fortunner ! Who would walk out alive ?

Apologies for the multiple posts...but this common misperception must be fought.

Yes in certain accidents SUVs do perform better. But in others they perform worse. Notably in rollover testing, accident avoidance and some other situations.

Also note that because of their relative weight disadvantage they take longer to stop and are involved in higher speed accidents.

Old Tucson at 2.0L having FC of 9.5km/L is considered very good liao, I've been driving this for 5 years now.

Parts are easily available for service, no worry.

thats strange, how is it that every mechanic i speak to tells me that its hard to find parts for this, and it'll be expensive?

in fact, i was about to purchase a 5 yr old tucson, but my concern was the maintenance part of it.

travelling for me would be short, hence fuel consumption wouldnt be so heavy

ok cool, but for a 5 year old tucson, is there anything i should watch for?

so this means that most workshops in signapore would be able to fix it, if there's anythign wrong with it, right?

there was soemthing leaking when i checkd out the car, initially i thought it was ocndensation. but we drove it for about 10-15 mins, so it coulnt be condensation.
