Oiuy Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 Hi, I am currently looking into buying a second hand A33 cefiro. I recently noticed a switch labeled as mentioned in the topic. Its situated to the south-west of the gear lever. Anyone knows what it does? Thx ↡ Advertisement
Magfocus 5th Gear August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 That switch is probably for aiding gearbox responsiveness in kick down, and keeping revs higher
Oiuy Neutral Newbie August 4, 2004 Author Share August 4, 2004 wow..I didnt think the cefiro would have such a sporty feature...
Magfocus 5th Gear August 4, 2004 Share August 4, 2004 I think even the Altis has this feature..
Oiuy Neutral Newbie August 4, 2004 Author Share August 4, 2004 (edited) thx for the reply. for a 2l car, it dosent produce as much power as other 2l cars. but in here http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/22222/ hp and torque is higher then that of figures in local mags, ect. is the local cefiro a lower spec version? Magfocus 5th Gear August 4, 2004 Share August 4, 2004 The JDM spec one produces more power actually..the local version is slightly detuned..
Oiuy Neutral Newbie August 4, 2004 Author Share August 4, 2004 more like severly detuned..
Magfocus 5th Gear August 4, 2004 Share August 4, 2004 But i guess its enough for everyday driving, and the smoothness of the V6 is
Oiuy Neutral Newbie August 4, 2004 Author Share August 4, 2004 another quick question. does any1 in this forum own a car with this feature? if yes, does it make any noticable improvements?(besides the obvious increased in FC)
Magfocus 5th Gear August 4, 2004 Share August 4, 2004 I believe there are people here that own such cars, i think the forester XT has this switch too. Improvements in responsiveness, not output, which is the same
Dwoon 1st Gear August 5, 2004 Share August 5, 2004 The humble Nissan Sunny already has this "overdrive" switch which makes for more agressive gear switching........ Forester has it too which seems enable earlier spooling, but the drive feels like front wheel drive
Magfocus 5th Gear August 5, 2004 Share August 5, 2004 Yes..the Altis too.. I think its just a gearbox program..
Vtim 3rd Gear August 5, 2004 Share August 5, 2004 more like severly detuned.. there are a few of this JDM cefiro running around, not too bad for a 2L you buying the one that's brought in by TCM ??
Oiuy Neutral Newbie August 5, 2004 Author Share August 5, 2004 the OD switch just downshifts to 3rd if ur on 4th which can also b done with a heavier foot to kickdown the gear i dont think it changes gears more quicky...@ least not on my current car.
Oiuy Neutral Newbie August 5, 2004 Author Share August 5, 2004 the JDMs r really good...150ps + smooth v6. yup..tcm. im sure they only bring in the detuned ones.
Dwoon 1st Gear August 6, 2004 Share August 6, 2004 Think the OD switch allows for more aggressive upshifts (i.e. allows you to drag longer in one gear) before shifting up. In fact, think it actually changes gear more slowly Try heavy footing the throttle with & without the OD switch to see if there's any diff.
Silver_z 1st Gear August 6, 2004 Share August 6, 2004 another quick question.does any1 in this forum own a car with this feature? if yes, does it make any noticable improvements?(besides the obvious increased in FC) I had been trying to figure out what that button was on my mom's car. tried turning on and off.... dun feel any difference. Guess, i didn't know what it was, thus never really concentrate on the transmission thing. It say A/T Power or Auto.... All along I thot it was for the radio Antenna. Wahahahahahahahahahhahaaaaaa.............
Vtim 3rd Gear August 6, 2004 Share August 6, 2004 yah! TCM are all detuned ↡ Advertisement
