Acemundo Supercharged August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 something i find very rojak about ourselves....for example a name like Sebastian Chan Wen Liang Sebastian is anglicised Tan is dialect Wen Liang is Chinese/Hanyu pinyin I am aware nowadays parents are educated in English and Chinese and probably lost touch of their dialects. I would think its better to use a name like Chen Wen Liang if they don't know their dialects well, but rojak it up with a name like that sounds very funny

Luckcent 4th Gear August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 nope, Japanese culture has changed quite a lot.Young ppl are just confused, with the influx of the western culture and the poor economy, etc. One thing is for sure, the new Japan will never be as strong as the old one. It's a common analogy in Japan these days that, "The old generation worked to build our country, while the younger generation are destroying it". And nope, never driven a Renault before. But sure wanna try... I have nothing against it and think they make great cars too. Japs economy has turned around. The young ones these days go for the branded goods. Take a walk in Omotesando and you will know why.
Pisces69 6th Gear August 5, 2004 Share August 5, 2004 I am driving an AT171 which is 15 years old with abt 340,000km and still OK. Got it at 190,000km & havnt done any engine work except change timing belt. Put in a re-built autobox at abt 325,000km bcos the reverse would'tn engage otherwise no major problem. Used to drive a Hyundai Excel 1.5 auto for 10 years with no engine work for full 10 years till I scrapped it. Milage was excess of 230,000km when scrapped. I use synthetic engine oil all along & now start to use synthetic ATF also. Maybe that's the secret of long life.
Qr25vet Clutched August 9, 2004 Share August 9, 2004 From my impression from various sources, Jap cars seems to last longer than European or American make. For Korean cars, there's nothing to say coz their engine doesn't last... Just wondering if I am correct? nope....my dad's old merc never had 2 overhaul once at all...engine can last for more than 10 years according to owners ↡ Advertisement
