Hi guys,

Just wondering if you guys can educate me on the above? What's the difference between wheel alignment, balancing and rotation? When will I know if I need to do any of the above.

Do you have any good workshops you can recommend for the above services? Has any of you tried the Stanford Tyres at Yishun? What about Poh Seng or City Auto??

By the way, I drive a 2003 Mazda Protege Auto.

All advice appreciated. Thanks.

wheel aligment - drive high speed then brake, steering vibrates. car tends to move to one direction. but our road is slightly slop towards the roadside for water drainage.

factory cars dun need to do unless hit kerb

rotation - front wear more than rear, so need to swap every 10000km to distribute the wear evenly

balancing - uneven wear tear on tires resulting uneven, and have to add weights to the rims...10000km also

I am a regular customer at City Auto. So far I am still quite satisfy with their services. Had been charged S$52 for computerized 4 wheel alignment. Not to forget this is a Mazda authorized service center too.

To me authorised or approved service workshops do not mean very much. The most impt to me is the skill level of the mechanics and the types of tools they have.

Sorry for hijacking this old post as I'm still unable to start a new post.

My question is, can I still go for wheel alignment & balancing after travelling approx for 1200km from my new tires? Or these must be done straight after changing of the new tires?

You can do alignment and balancing as and when you wish. Balancing should already be done when your tires were installed onto your rims.
