Recently went into Malaysia and was stop by TP at that side. He claim I got outstanding fine for speeding. Check the date is 2002 June by I only own the car from Sept 2002. Although I can use the log card as evidence, is there a way to permanently remove the record since I am not the one commited the offense. I dont have previous owner record. I did call up LTA and they said need to pay 5 dollar to draft a letter to show I am the owner. Sound stupid since log card already reflect me as owner. Any here manage to settle it can give some advice. Thanks

Hi,

This happened to me before a few years ago. Same situation, but they let me off without seeing my log card. This is because when I surrended my passport to them, they found that my name did not match that of the one being summonned. Of course I also told them I did not own the car when the summon was issued too. I don't think you can remove the record as they still want the actual culprit to pay for the summon. So I guess you will have to continue to bring in your log card to malaysia and keep on explaining it to them until they catch the previous offender. But if you do get stopped again, why don't you ask them to check the name that was being sumoned like in my case, and go after the actual culprit.
