ICE solution for S40 n V50

Hi folks, I am wondering if anyone has seen any solution to solving the new Volvo's front panel! Obviously looking at it, there is no way we can put in an aftermarket HU there. But I would like to know if the new Volvo is totally non-ICE friendly!

all volvos are ICE unfriendly. the stock HU sucks and has no RCA preouts, aftermarket CD connector, etc.

Oh boy, that would mean a new HU console must be constructed if one chooses to use a aftermarket unit! Oh well, that means Volvo is out of the running on my list. Cheers!

use back stock lor... got remote controls,steering controls leh.

if me i'll juz change the speakers and throw in amp, sub or watever.

no worries. if u r prepared to fork out $3.5k, SM will gladly upgrade it to a "premium' sound system. but when the CD changer itself goes for $1.2k (no big shake, juz that volvo makes the connecter unique and no aftermarket changer has it ), u know what kinda value for money you're getting.

 

if u hv a trusted installer who is also handy in 'micro-electronics surgery', tapping the signals from the HU into the amp may still be possible to overcome this limitation.

 

if u want good ICE and performance at the same time, consider the Legacy GT. the stock McIntosh ICE is oredi quite awesome by itself.
