hi,

would like to seek advice from the experts here...

been having problems startin my car in the morning ever since i changed my timing belt on last fri...

even with the choker, the car just died easily after a few secs...

i had to re-start the engine many many manty times and even hold the key in that position for long...

i remembered steam mentioned to me before abt my high idling rpm...

so i asked the mech to tune it but he said my carb is abit gone...

sigh...

p/s: sorry couldnt come for meet-up last nite as im goin to koon already... been havin a bz weekend...

Your carb might be gone. Your start is it "click-clack" with no crank or with the sound of the crank trying to start the car? If there is no crank, could be the starter.

think got the sound of crank tyin to start the car, at least i hear the belt tryin to move, but like no energy to continue movin and just gave up and died...

oh yah confirmed again tat mine is a 1.3 engine cos i needed to change to a 1.3l timin belt... [:)]

but now found tat got engine oil leak, so perf abit affected...

abit distressin to see white smoke coming out when i step on the accelerator... [:(]

was your car able to start in the end ?

try not to hold the key in the cranking position for too long... u might damage the starter in the process.

you seeing white smoke at the exhaust could mean a leak in the engine.. probably piston ring might be worn out...was there with smoke before you changed the timing belt ?

hi,

yup baby was able to start like after re-startin 6-7 times with holdin the key in the crankin position... [sweatdrop]

but today slightly better, just need 3-4 times...

hopefully is bcos the car needs some time to get used to the new parts...

yup engine oil leak...

but since goin to scrap next yr jun, so no pt over haul, just regularly top up my engine oil loh...

Sud not be. After change timing belt & carb tune up, should be easy to start & very smmmooooottttthhh. [nod][nod]

Maybe your mech didn't tune your carb properly or in worst case, what yeobh said , mech didn't set the belt properly & valves & sparking is out of sync. [crazy][shakehead][thumbsdown]

Is this your regular mech, & has he been giving you good service for some time?

If you just started trying him, I suggest you look for another mech, fast.
