Hi,

Anyone here drive the new Honda Oddessy? Any feedbacks on performance, fuel consumption etc? Among the MPVs, only Grandis caught my eyes until I see the new Honda Oddessy on the road...now there is one more choice for me...hehehe...

Thanks.

If you're buying Odyssey, do take note that the parallel import version is different from the Kah Motor one... So if there is any repair to be done, Kah Motor may not be able to help...

Hi Bibill, am driving the EXV for about 2 weeks now. The car is very responsive and especially at the low ends. Love the handling. Driven for abt 2 weeks, I am getting abt 10km/L. Hopefully it will be better once i do my 1000km servicing tmr.

Hi,

Find the new model is more like a station wagon with boot that can be converted to seats. The way KAH Motors install the sound system locally leaves the system protruding out of the dashboard is quite awful.

Overall, the drive is good but the seating is more cramped compared to older models.

Hi Bibill,

Just got mine serviced for 1k and fuel comsumption is still abt 10k/l, hope this improves over time. Ny neg feedback is that my brakes have a wierd "growning noise" when braking over uneven surfaces or down a steep slope (eg. tile bricks car parks ). Went back to Kah and they just cleaned it, but its back again ..after 1 week. Keep you posted if you still interested in the Oddessy.

my friend is driving it...the weight will be slightly heavier than other MPVs,and so more fuel will be needed...if for me i would rather choose grandis...it looks great... [thumbsup]

Been driving mine for 12 days..

so far FC is about 9 to 9+

Performance seems ok although I havent really tried to push it.

A few oddities like the central lock doesn't activate when you start the engine, when locking/unlocking the car with the remote it doesn't beep so dem hard to find your car in the carpark if lost and the alpine system doesn't come with the (optional) remote and you need really long arms to fiddle with the radio while driving.

I thought that the oddessy was very classy. Haven seen kah motors. Only seen the parallel imported ones. They look very classy with nice spacious interior.

honda cars are all the same, ie. no autolock when car moves off. u'll need to manually lock urs and the other doors will be locked. i guess this is one area that honda needs to improve on.

u did not install the alarm right? the immobiliser does not make any sound when arming/disarming.

the alpine HU is not easy to configure huh? also dun have quick buttons to select the FM channels. the optional remote can be purchased at most car audio shops i think.

Yah.. the radio is quite messy to configure.. first time I've actually read a car radio manual.

Anyway, heard that you can actually buy the on-steering control buttons and the interface unit from Alpine (if they have it) and set up radio control on the steering wheel. Anyone tried this before ??

Anyway I don't know why they didn't include the remote as standard.. even my previous 323 had it as a standard item.

even after reading the manual, i still do not know how to configure it, so just use it without changing anything. just set the radio stations and time is good enough for me. why no remote, the in-thing nowadays is cost-cutting. one thing about KM is that they will give the minimum possible.

yeah well it's quite annoying trying to fiddle with the radio while driving.

Just went down to Autobacs to check and the guy there doesn't think this unit can be streering enabled.. not sure how accurate he is.

No place to put sub also... at most he said can put a small one under passenger chair.

[thumbsup] in general, quite a nice car especially view from the front but the backside seems weird. [thumbsdown] interior wood panel sucks big time, very fake and colour looks like poo [thumbsdown]

Actually the interior wood panels (well, actually plastics panels thats supposed to look like wood) come in 2 colors. The grey/silver will be dark wood which IMO looks more normal. The other colors have a light color... I suppose it's to match the beige interior. Think even the floor mats for those are light beige.

Thanks all for all your wonderful feedback and comments. Will go to KM to take a look one day...to see whether it can overthrow my fav MPV, Mits Grandis or not...

U will probably be disappointed, especially if u are using the older Odyssey as benchmark.... Personally, I prefer Grandis to the new Odyssey.

hi all,

my first post in these forums - just a little story on how i ended up buying the new Odyssey EXV.

went KM sometime in mid-Aug 2004 to look at the CRV, cos i needed an upgrade to my trusty Mazda 323 (2.5 yrs). never thought i wud even look at the Odyssey, cos i didn't think i'd want to drive an "old man" car.

test drove the CRV but found the steering very light. came back to KM, and decided no harm sitting in the Odyssey, and was surprised by its level of interior trim, etc. asked to test drive it, and found it very very "driveable", much like my 323, which i felt was more fun to drive than either the Corolla or the Sunny.

went to test the Lexus RX300 also, plus the Harrier 2.4GL, but ultimately we decided on the Odyssey cos it was the most comfortable drive - the Lexus/Harrier ride can be a bit harsh on the rear passengers.

the KM SE i dealt with was also very attentive, and she ended up giving me free 6-CD changer (under the front passenger seat), free reverse and front sensors (6 in total), and free floor mats (similar to the 3M types). not bad, considering i'm quite an easy sell most of the time.

i've driven my Odyssey for about a week now, and my FC is about 7 - 7.5 km/L for short trips to and from office, and about 9 - 10 km/L for longer drives along the expressways.

i personally find the suspension quite soft, and speed bumps have to be negotiated quite carefully, but this means my 2nd/3rd row passengers are more comfortable, so it's a trade-off one way or the other. the car also rolls quite a bit when pushed hard into corners.

the drive is something else though - when you're on the expressway at about 90-100 km/h (haven't gone higher, cos my SE told me not to during 1st 1000kms) the car's handling really shines. minor road bumps are imperceptible and the car feels very stable. plus, when i look at the speedometer, it's usually going faster than i thought.

i actually find the lack of a beep when the alarm is engaged to be less troublesome than i thought - at least it's better than some cars' extremely loud (and annoying) beeps. in any case, i usually remember where i park my car. *grin*

my only gripes are quite minor - the car floor mats are all beige, so major vacuuming and weekly cleans are required. also, the steering is adjustable up & down only, so for people with long legs like me, your hands (or legs) can get quite crampy during a long drive. and yes, the stereo is quite out of reach too.
