Genie47 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 Anyone of you experience this? I notice that the water beads on the front windshield. The wipers are smooth initially and then as the rain goes on, the wipers judder like hell! Never put any RainX or silane on the front. But I do suspect the wiper wash has something like it. I don't use wax as well. ↡ Advertisement
Ace_t Neutral Newbie July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 maybe it's got window cleaner solution in it.... I get the same symptoms when the attendant at the petrol kiosk sprays that bluish liquid from his bottle when he cleans my windscreen.
Genie47 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Author Share July 5, 2004 I think I will drain off all the wiper wash, polish the windshield with Autosol (abrasives) to clear the coat.
Ace_t Neutral Newbie July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 thot u recommended JIF the last time ? becareful of your paintwok.... flush the area wif tons of water...
Genie47 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Author Share July 5, 2004 Jif is OK but not that effective. Plus it harms the clear coat. Autosol can be buffed away very easily.
Tien Neutral Newbie July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 yup, same problem with mine. the wiper works fine at first then after more sweeps, the wiper begins to judder. i did put rainX before and i thought that problem is only specific to me. but now it seems like some of you here also have the same prob... hi genie, would appreciate if you could update after draining the wiper wash and cleaning the screen. Protege 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 Bro, in this situation, there is only 2 possibility. Did you wax your car? Sometimes after waxing, if it rains, wax might flow onto the windscreen causing the judder. RainX is definitely the main culprit, followed by those windscreen washer or those spray on windscreen cleaner. I have a friend who has the solution to clean the windscreen. Very helpful guy. PM me if you want his contact. Cheers!!
Genie47 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Author Share July 5, 2004 No wax was used. I'm a Klasse user. I DIY car wash. No "wash & wax" shampoos either, not even "wash & shine" or spotless shampoos which are the same thing. The guy that has the solution. Don't tell me he is the same guy with the industrial strength glass cleaner. Popular guy in the Toyota Forum when it was still in Delphiforums. Protege 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 It is not really a solution. It is a powder which have to be mix with water. He use to be driving a Sunny and now the Altis. He is very active in the Nissan Forum last time. Now I am not sure. Maybe now in Toyota Forum. Cheers!!
Genie47 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Author Share July 5, 2004 Powder?! Super strong base? Make alkali solution? Why I suspect this is because I work with glass plates in the lab last time. To remove silanes, you need alkali to eat it away to form soluble silicates. Glass surface then becomes very wettable.
Protege 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 No. It is using the powder to clean the glass. Very effective as I bought 2 times from him already. He will demonstrate to you what is a "Clean Glass" A clean glass should not bead. Should flow nicely down like waterfall. Anyway, you can look for him, very helpful guy. His formula is from windscreen manufacturer. So sure work. Cheers!!
Genie47 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Author Share July 5, 2004 Yes, I know clean glass cascades water. I've been cleaning them for 13yrs. Problem is my chemicals are on the other end of spectrum. pH of 14. Usually 1M NaOH or KOH in 100% methanol.
Protege 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 Bro, I guess you either try your own solution or look for my fren. Anyway he charges so little. No problem. The powder he provides is good for at least 3-4 cleaning. Why don't you try diluting your solution with water and see how?
Genie47 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Author Share July 5, 2004 The thing is I will not even want to use this solution. 1.0M NaOH is enough to do a lot of damage to anything! I will use Autosol first. If it fails, I will PM you.
Protege 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 No problem. If you need recommendation to my fren, just PM me. Cheers!!
Stary Supercharged July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 my optra's wiper also judder... How about changing the blades instead??
Protege 1st Gear July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 Changing the blades is useless. I tried before. It may help for the first few days, but after that, back to normal.
Stary Supercharged July 5, 2004 Share July 5, 2004 how about those super $40 a pair wipers? ↡ Advertisement
