Bryanho Neutral Newbie July 4, 2004 Share July 4, 2004 Hi, I'm thinking of the benefits of changing new spark plugs every 10,000km or alternatively, changing to iridum or platinum sparkies. I am not into performance but rather the inconvenience of changing the plugs(labour is charged too!) . Thanks for your feedback and contributions. BTW. I use IK16 plugs and I drive a Toyota Corolla ↡ Advertisement
Sucker Clutched July 4, 2004 Share July 4, 2004 Hi! If your car is in-line 4 cylinder, use copper plug.. you can change the plug more frequently. I think iridium plug provides smoother engine. cheers sucker!
Bryanho Neutral Newbie July 4, 2004 Author Share July 4, 2004 Hi! I'm tempted to change to iridium or platinum plugs as the likely hood of the tips being word off is remote.. sio I'm trying to decide... hmm... mostly I'll go for iridium or platinum... I like the lasting properties rather than their claimed performance..

Vtim 3rd Gear July 4, 2004 Share July 4, 2004 if you are looking for lasting properties, than you should go for the long life plugs, like NGK Double Platinium Plugs PZFR6F-11, PM me if you are interested
Kytl68 Neutral Newbie July 4, 2004 Share July 4, 2004 Try to look for the SK series Denso Iridium plugs made for Toyota cars ... they are suppose to be better than platinium plugs but last longer than the Iridium power (IK series). The SK series has a 0.7mm Iridium tip electrode and a platinium coated ground electrode ... and the plug is suppose to last at least 60,000 miles (about 96,000 km) ... cool !!!! Vtim 3rd Gear July 6, 2004 Share July 6, 2004 you are refering to CMK or plugs cause I know CMK will not be cheap & long lasting but it's good
Esky Neutral Newbie July 6, 2004 Share July 6, 2004 Pls pardon my ignorance, but what's CMK ar? Sori, haven't been able to follow all threads... Personally, I think that while long-life plugs are of great value, they do have downsides too- like not giving u the excuse to try out another just-released plug , or, on a serious note, may make yr plugs more difficult to take out after it's been there for 6-~100k km. Vtim 3rd Gear July 6, 2004 Share July 6, 2004 CMK = 'Cat Mountain King' durain lar as for long life plug, it's always advisiable to remove them every 10k~20k km to check them
Esky Neutral Newbie July 6, 2004 Share July 6, 2004 (edited) as for long life plug, it's always advisiable to remove them every 10k~20k km to check them I'm sure most won't, or forget to do it! Edited July 6, 2004 by Esky ↡ Advertisement
