Kardachia Neutral Newbie June 29, 2004 Share June 29, 2004 Will doing a coolant bypass mod to an Altis void any warranty or give any problems at the my next 5K servicing ? ↡ Advertisement
Vtim 3rd Gear June 30, 2004 Share June 30, 2004 well, if it's not very obvious to 'spot' the changes, than no void warranty lor! SAF COC no:

Bcyn Neutral Newbie June 30, 2004 Share June 30, 2004 i did it before... trust me if ur car is new and no probs dun do. it was done by the previous owner of my proton and every morning... u start the car and stand outside smoke finish 2 cigg the car havent even finish warming up yet. but after driving for quite awhile the temp gauge will only show 1/4 mark. will seldom hit 1/2 mark. maybe it an old car...juz my 2cents. Lightspeed Clutched June 30, 2004 Share June 30, 2004 So what's the purpose of bypassing the coolant?
Bcyn Neutral Newbie June 30, 2004 Share June 30, 2004 erm...not too sure... but i guess it cools the engine better? i didnt do it. the previous owner did it. he didnt connect the thermostat back also, thus the coolant starts flowing the min u crank the engine. Esky Neutral Newbie July 1, 2004 Share July 1, 2004 Wah, no thermostat! Good for racing all the way! I'm thinking that this may not be good on a carbureted engine, as the heat may be needed for the fuel to vapourise properly. Hmmm... maybe we need to install a solenoid on the coolant line so that we could switch it on or off according to our needs... early morning warm up- let the coolant flow. After warming up, stop the coolant from further heating up the TB?
Kardachia Neutral Newbie July 1, 2004 Author Share July 1, 2004 Read on various automobile websites that it prevents the heating up of intake air so more oxygen is available per vol cube of intake air....sumthing like dat...The hot coolant going into the throttle body is only good in winter freezing condition to prevent freezing up of the throttle plate... Kardachia Neutral Newbie July 1, 2004 Author Share July 1, 2004 I thought the coolant hose to the throttle body is a "sub-hose" coming out from the engine before returning to the radiator for cooling...should it affect the heating up of the engine during startup? Because if the temperatue sensor sense that the engine is cold, it just won't turn on the cooling fan, that's all so the coolant will remain hot and the engine would achieve its desired "hot temperature" for operation. Zrun Neutral Newbie July 2, 2004 Share July 2, 2004 IMO, this mod is useless because your throttle body is *attached* to the engine. So eventually the whole thing will be at the same temperature.. Also, when air flow from outside the intake to exiting the engine, the whole process is less than 1 sec. With 1 second of contact with the "hot" throttle body, the air temperature will not change much.
