Is High beam illegal ?

Hi, sorry to revive an old thread but like to ask for advice.

 

Went picking up my wife just now for her company dinner from Shangrila. Driving back home in normal speed until I noticed a car behind me using his high beam to flash me. Just nice the traffic light turned red and stopped. The car pulled to my side so I wind down my window to ask why he flashed me. He shouted to me that because to me, he missed his green right turn traffic light. Naturally, I felt pissed, so I said I did nothing wrong, and that it is illegal for him to flash me without there being a dangerous situation.

 

My question is this: do I have a case if I were to send the footage to traffic police? Is flashing high beam in this case legal?

Faint. Flashing high beam is not illegal.

 

Flashing other things like what a pervert flash to ladies is illegal. 

 

There is no case at all. You did nothing wrong, he also did nothing wrong. just different perspective. He thinks you are road hogging and you think you are driving in normal speed. 

 

Just ignore these small little things and move on. We got more important things to do than to hold on to these kind of petty woman thinking.

You drove slow so that you reach the traffic light on red but you blocked the fella from turning right/left just because you think its going to be red why should i hurry. Put yourself in the other driver's shoe....he blocks you from reaching the junction in time for your green light/arrow. You happy? If i want the road to be smooth for my journey others would want that to.

Not illegal to use high beam, otherwise it'll not be fitted on cars in the first place.

Important is knowing when to use it.

true that! Some people just think for themselves as long as i am in no wrong everybody else suck thumb. Knn....where is the graciousness? But then when the table is turned they honk...high beam and throw tantrums....wtf!

Just to add on. About 50% of these have no situational awareness and road sense at all. 

 

If you see an empty road ahead of you and you are not in a hurry, decides to roll to a stop since it is amber or red anyway, please take a look in the rear view mirror before doing that.

 

If you see a car behind you, it is only civil and courteous to postpone your car rolling to another junction.

The other car might be trying to get to a right turning filter lane which you have blocked.

Or even if the other car is not turning, he might not enjoy following behind your slow rolling while raising his alertness in case you suddenly jam the brake on him.

spot on bro. Last week met an MY biker who decided to scratch his body while riding on BKE 1st lane at 80km/hr! Knn.....was behind him for quite a distant until he decided to continue scratching.....so i gave him my high beam flicker.....80km/hr on expressway 1st lane....

Recently I keep seeing cars driving around with high beam on. There is this white vezel who lives around bukit timah road, I have seen him around a few times and he is always driving with high beams on. What is wrong with these drivers? They can't even tell when their high beams are on? Or are they too old and blur to continue driving?
