has any toyota bro out there fixed this mod before? care to share your experiences?

supposedly to "keep your engine in its peak torque operating range between shifts", "allows for smoother acceleration", [more marketing speak]...

Better clutch will improve your shifting experience. IMO TRD's product are expensive rebranded version of other manufacturers. If you can find cheaper ACT or RPS clutch it is more worth it. For street use car, I'll wait until existing clutch wears off before swapping.

Lighter flywheel will cause your engine's rev to drop much faster when in neutral. i.e. you get better shifting experience too... Because when you up shift, the RPM drops down quickly to your next gear. Depending on how much weight you save on the flywheel, it should give you better acceleration too. However, IMO, lightweight flywheel is not a good mod for the $$$. I'll get that only if I have all the mods I want and have extra $$ to spare.

Interesting topic...

1. If you can drive the car without much problem, your clutch is still useable. Cuz my friend drive his clutch until it totally stopped engaging... When that happen, you go into gear, step on accelerator, and the car rev like neutral. Or, you find that if you try to accelerate too much, the engine rev up but the car stays the same speed. When that happens, it is obvious.

2. To judge if clutch is wearing off.. It is quite easy, if it becomes harder to down shift without rev matching.. E.g if you drive at 3k rpm, downshift, but does not rev match the car, and it takes about 2-3 seconds to engage at 4k rpm properly, then the clutch is slowly wearing off.. But it is still useable.

Another way my friend taught me, is to go into 3rd gear, pull handbrake, and try to get into 3rd gear.. If you can manage to release clutch, and your engine doesn't die, then clutch is slipping. This method of testing will kill your clutch quickly if you do it many times....
