Sapience Clutched June 24, 2004 Share June 24, 2004 ya zhun boh? when you got your K&N, you didn't see the box? it says something like every 50000 to 100000 MILES. go and translate that to km and you probably don't need to wash it, just get a new one. Zrun Neutral Newbie June 27, 2004 Share June 27, 2004 If u have drop in filter, it should be cleaner than open pod filter. My open pod filter is very dirty after few months. It is obvious, just take it out, and see the dirt on it. Washing it 1-2 a year should be ok. I bought K&N filter cleaning kit... It costs $10 USD or $18SGD in USA. I think it is a good kit... One bottle is soap, u spray on the filter and rinse it... One bottle is red tinted oil, so when u spray on the filter, u'll know if u miss any spots(white).. Bcyn Neutral Newbie June 27, 2004 Share June 27, 2004 anyone know roughly how many times can the cleaning kit last frm k&n? tw i went to dreamcars asia saw man exhust selling the uni filter... they keep comparing with k7n say theirs better quality. Zrun Neutral Newbie June 27, 2004 Share June 27, 2004 I think u can use the kit about 10-20 times... so, it is like 5-10 years.. I think K&N has put in alot of research into their filters. They have been doing it for many years, and u can go to their website and see. Not saying that the other brands are not good.. But if a sales person compare theirs to K&N, u must verify the proofs. BTW, most air filters will work to about the same degree.. If you can find another brand cheaply, it is probably worth it.. IMO, K&N has the best protection, air flow and durability balance. Ecaf Neutral Newbie June 27, 2004 Share June 27, 2004 the guy who sold k&n drop-in to me says need to clean only after 50,000km. only occassionally i take a look at the filter, scared dried leaves got sucked in
Linus Clutched June 28, 2004 Share June 28, 2004 i also come to realise the importance of a good air filter. when i was doing my 40k svc, they said my previous svc ppl gave me imitation ones that dont even fit the rite size of the compartment.... i am thinking of changing to K&N ones when doing my next svc. ↡ Advertisement
