Buzz Neutral Newbie May 7, 2004 Share May 7, 2004 ....... am I rite to say the SS1 is NA S4 1.8l and does 120 bhp ....what about the SS2? what's its displacement ....is it N.A. too? Both are 1.8L, but the higher horses one is a VVTL-i while the lower one is just a VVT-i. The extra L in there stands for lift, which translate to another set of cams. Sapience Clutched May 8, 2004 Share May 8, 2004 (edited) SS1 140, SS2 180 but for the SS2's VVTL-i, you really have to whip the engine to about 7000 RPM before the L kicks in to give you the added 40 horses, so for normal driving, the SS1 more than suffices, its FC is not too bad somemore Edited May 8, 2004 by Sapience
Sapience Clutched May 9, 2004 Share May 9, 2004 air scoop? on the bonnet? isn't that standard? unless you are talking about the bonnet wing which is either a celica TRD or a TRD bodykitted celica...
Dwoon 1st Gear May 10, 2004 Share May 10, 2004 Dunno whether standard or not. But if its not TC, you mean its for show only? Wah lau..... its considered a sports car yet the manufacturer must resort to this? Errr. no offence to any Celica owners.
Sapience Clutched May 10, 2004 Share May 10, 2004 well the scoop does allow air into the engine compartment, so it's not really "for show" per se like some stick-on air scoops... well the celica is not TC i know, it's not really a sports car (or not the SS1 at least), and it's considered a normal coupe by some insurance companies. the celica is one car which is more aesthetics than performance, i'll give you that, so if you like it, good for you, if you don't, nobody will convince you to anyway... it all boils down to personal preferences

Wish186 Neutral Newbie May 13, 2004 Share May 13, 2004 Careful of some PIs who offer good price and freebies but ended up with disappointment when you collect your ride and no after sales service when you encounter problems. Can tell you more at Friday MCF meetup if you are interested You can try calling Clarence at Vincar , hp : 93831104 for enquiry. He is a PI SE that highly recommended by WISH forum members who bought cars (WISH, Harrier, IST..) from him and also people who bought from other PIs. I did not get mine from him but spoke to him ;making enquiry about the RX8 for my boss. Sound like a nice guy, helpful, frank and open. Have not met him in person yet
Lightspeed Clutched May 13, 2004 Share May 13, 2004 You might want to hunt around for another version of the Celica which is the rare M Sports version. There were a few which were brought into Singapore Here's a little more information on it http://www.j-garage.com/3311.htm
