My contribution ... pics of my Celica 10 years ago (2nd generation).

My first car .... still very proud of it. My dream car when I was in Primary School in the early 80s. When I was that young, I could virtually stand still when I saw the Celica go by ... when I got it finally, I spent more time with it than my family, always found excuses to go out with the Big Red Machine.

Engine Bay pix somewhere around but still cannot find ....

Changed the following only :-

1) Top Overhaul

2) 2 K&N Filter Round Top

3) Exhaust System - manifold to rear -> direct (no cat convertor)

4) Not forgetting rims

With this car i did a lot of hands-on , know them inside out. With my other cars after it, no touch - very scared especially with ECU units and all.

HIghest speed ever achieved : 160 kph (North South Highway)

well, all this must pass.....so just chill out man

all least you still got your Peugeot

You know what bro ... in all due honesty - the 1978 Celica is the best car I've ever owned.

Loved it to death .... pssst - I actually shed a tear when it went into the scrapyard although I already own a Lancer at that time as a replacement.

I took care of it like my own kid .... much care.

No other car I;ve driven has given me such nostalgic values. Thats why I felt a sense of belonging when I sat in Foo's Celica.

The smell, the feel of the steering (no power steering), the far-ahead front bonnet and smal backside ... it just brings back lots of memories.

Memories of how I use to get so drunk and still it got me home safe ... although there were times that I ended up in Woodlands instead of AMK. How I got there ... dun ask .... [thumbsdown]

How I did a 360 at Marymount Road on a rainy day (no ABS) rear wheel drive.

But it all felt so damn good ... your first car is like your first love.

Always living in your memory ....

May God Bless Her Soul

The Boobster will always love his beloved Celine - thats her name.

With the classic Celicas' RWD setup and not inconsiderable power..... tail happy is a regular affair........... many time when i have to brake a little hard for red lights.... my rear tyres lock up and massive tyre smoke pollutes the air..... other drivers'd stare and i juz shrug it off.... using my body language to let them know "hey.... not me... i wasn't going fast...'... (actually this is not characteristic of Celicas.... juz my brakes and suspensions/shocks are not in proper orders yet....).... but fun nonetheless [thumbsup][nod][laugh]

Hey Colonel..... anytime man, any time you wanna a ride.... be my guest [thumbsup][bounce1][bounce2]

Cheers n happy celica-ing

[sweatdrop] You revived such an old thread..
.......was a real head turner when it first came out in 1972. Many British expatriates bought 'em then. [nod]

Btw, many of these owners stared at me when my good ol' trusted 1967 Fiat 124 beat them by several car lengths. [rolleyes]
