Cars with 200-300k km mileage were pretty common in the past. My friend had a 84 Honda Accord with 330k on 5th year. Didn't really change anything besides routine maintenance. A more recent example is another friend's 2004 Stream 260k km with only oil changes and a battery change in 6 years. Never broken down before. Thats lucky. My colleage 2008 stream just change his air-con compressor at 135k mileage. ↡ Advertisement

Kaiserad Neutral Newbie August 6, 2012 Share August 6, 2012 It has been 7 years. I do not have problem with my matrix so far (180000km) However, I do have it service regularly. I guess servicing is important. I know nothing about car maintenance so I listen to what the mechanics tells me and change what is required. However, the FC is high. It is usually 10km/l. If anyone can share ways to reduce the FC, it would be great.
Yamapi 6th Gear August 6, 2012 Share August 6, 2012 (edited) My dad's 6 year old matrix has also been problem free so far. Going to hit 150,000 km soon. Didn't expect this car to be reliable. Last time always think korean cars are bad till we bought the matrix Edited August 6, 2012 by Yamapi

Even though the car might have not much problem, but if the FC is high maybe i would find an excuse and change to a lower FC car.

Agree, i changed to 2nd hand wish, 200 cc more, better pickup, more space, heavier body, larger rims, and guess what, better FC! How is that remotely possible? I can't figure that. The saving itself can already buy a lot of fuel. Second. This is a heavier car with more space comfort and convenient. Be proud of yr matrix. It is a goodcar. A value for money one. Alfc 5th Gear August 8, 2012 Share August 8, 2012 Exactly. Share your logic. Upfront savings of a matrix at that time vs a so-call good fuel economy car could easily be between $5-10k (excl interest). Additional fuel exp per month is probably $50-$100 depending on usage. Just see how much of that upfront savings can last you... more so if you are a low/average mileage user....

I think if matrix can get 10' it is very good already when it has so many other good attribute.. 1.6 engine lugging a big useful, convenient, comfortable and practical body. I have a 06 1.6L Matrix, manual and getting 11.4km per liter for FC
