Must a car have side mirrors to be driven in Singapore? Is it an offense for a car not to have? I think with a large rear mirror, it is sufficient to drive safely.

yes. side mirrors, like brake lights are mandatory for safety reasons. btw, how do u change lane safely without checking the side mirrors?? the scope of vision for the rear view mirror is extremely narrow.

i get ur point when u say u can drive w/o side mirrors...i didn't used the left side mirror at all when i was driving my previous car as i found the rear view mirror more than sufficient.however it is always better to have the side mirrors dun u think..if not, jus one unfortunate incident where we forget to check blind spot and may be end of story..

Hi,

I just got my right side mirror scratch my some $@#$#%%@#@ bus driver.[mad][mad][:/]

There is a crack (visible when near) and scratches in the front casing but the mirror is still OK, working properly.

Question:

Do i need to replace the WHOLE mirror?? cost??

IF not, can they just remove the front casing and change with a new one??

or do some touch-up??

Please advise. Thks.

Just to side track a bit on this topic, I have seen most Conti cars have blue tinted side mirrors, Any idea how we can get it done on Jap cars? Mine is Protege.

Cheers!!

Advisable to fix, especially if there's a crack. Don't want rain to screw up the electricals or etc.

Replacement cost at BM may be high though.

You may be right. I've seen smaller Jap cars with the tinted wing mirror lenses, everything else was stock (casing etc).

my colleague got his G9 whole side mirror (casing and mirror) for less than 200 at an outside workshop. so you might want to try some outisde workshops, cheaper.
