Guni-gong or GNG

Any bros have this installed? Basically the GNG is just a canister, it works by storing a fixed volume of air when the engine is started. When the throttle is released, the air is fed into the engine, which "fools" it that the throttle is not fully released. Hence, upon re-acceleration, the engine can response faster.

My colleague has installed recently, basically the installer remove the air-pipe between the air-intake manifold and the master brake pump, and installs the GNG in the way. Typically it's about 300cc GNG for 1.5l car, and bigger volumes for bigger engines. The size of GNG can be selected to suit different driving needs. The market price is about $140.

I have called one of the installers, and he's kind enough to give a 1-week trial for the product, and a small discount. Makes it even more tempting [inlove], but I'm still considering... [idea]

A lot of stock intake already has this 'guni-kong' configuration. But some don't.

Incidentally mine was incorporated into the resonator but since I've removed the resonator, I've lost the use of the 'guni-kong' too! [shakehead]

I can find a spare one for you if you are interested but the guni-kong is inseparable from the resonator. There's also the fitting to worry about.

I've attached the pic of my resonator. The squarish box at the bottom is the 'guni kong'. Out of view at the rear is a tube connecting the main intake tube after the resonator. The curved thingy on top is the intake opening and the opening facing you connects to the filter box. Opening size is 3".

Hi there,

Juz a bit curios, is that from the Mit Lancer GLXi?

Right now, I was thinking about the GNG and CAI. [idea] If you have GNG after your resonator and done up the CAI. I think we could resolve the low-end torque for the CAI. hehehehe [;)]

Cheers

No, that's from my Alfa 156. I'm sure you'd benefit if you can fit in the GNG into your CAI! [thumbsup]

Hmmmmmm...........that give me an idea! [idea] Ever seen the 90 degree PVC pipe with an opening at the bend? Maybe can use that opening for the GNG.

Thanks doc! But I've already got my gng installed. Since your resonator cannot be seperated from your gng, I can't use it also! [:/]

The installed, Ah Ping seems quite knowledgable about his products. He has various capacities for different cars, and preferences [sunny]

The installer is Low's Motor Welding in No 68 Sungei Kadut St 1. Lot 24. Tel 63684616. Another shop in Senoko installs it also, but I heard their canister only comes in 1 size.

Can't quite remember, paisay. He did mention a 300cc for 4WD 1.6 (Like Impreza TS), and 330cc for mine. You can call him to check it out.

The damage was $150, didn't bargain.
