Xtra undercoating in SG necessary?

Well the city workers because when it snows or reaches freezing temperatures, ice can form on the road and the salt (calcium chloride) helps melt the snow and ice for a safer drive.

We get about 2-3months worth of salt per year in Ohio. [:p]

Undercoating is more crucial in areas that see salt, that's where aluminum constructed cars like the A8 and Jaguar XJs shine [nod]

Most cars sold in the US are bare bone unless it's a high end or luxury model.

Like my Fords have no undercoating, so rusting already....I'll have to do DIY rust removal and rust proofing this summer. [sweatdrop]

SG cars are loaded with accessories but mostly installed locally to keep the OMV low, whereas cars made in the US can even be bought from factory direct with substantial savings [thumbsup]

Nope, not table salt, really nasty stuff and sometimes mixed with sand to improve traction.

On my driveway I just use a big shovel to break the ice and scoop the snow off. [sweatdrop]

Well thankfully it's not every morning as it does snow everyday, only when the snow starts accumulating above an inch then we'll have to shovel [sweatdrop]

Here are more examples of the saltiness and how water can freeze up very quickly [dizzy]

Well if the car is driven daily, startup in freezing weather not a problem. Batteries are tough [sly]

I usually let the rpms settle below 1000rpm, usually less than 30 secs then move off. I checked with a OBDII scanner and coolant temps don't rise much at idle, best is still to don't let the car idle too long but drive with a light foot till full warm up [nod]

y shouldnt let the car idle too long?

every morning i will warmup my car until the rpm is less than 1k then i start to drive off and everytime, somehow the car couldnt get going and the rpm will drop to bout 200 and rise again to bout 1.5k... even if i step harder on the accel, the car just refuse to move. then i will just wait for bout 5 secs and drive off wif a light foot. only then it wlil response and move off. i did ask the mech from agent but they couldnt do much since it only happen in the morning... confused... [confused][confused]
