Genie47 1st Gear February 16, 2004 Author Share February 16, 2004 (edited) The manual say so . Honda VTEC official VTEC oil is 5W40. Not a 30wt but you can use a 30wt oil but no guarantees. Edited February 16, 2004 by Genie47

Genie47 1st Gear February 16, 2004 Author Share February 16, 2004 Well, the manual of the car will tell you the range of oil to use. For Toyotas of my era, it ranges from 30-50wt. The new Toyotas boast 20-40wt oils! . The middle is always the compromise. The higher wt is the protection. The lower is for the economy it brings. TS engines or in fact, hotter engines should use the protection. Lower wt oil heats up really fast and may burn fast in a really hot engine. As the oil's lubricating qualities are lost, the wear will increase. You can try a 30wt oil on a TS engine but the OCI should be much shorter than your regular OCI at 5k km. Race cars are known to use 5-10wt oil but they only race for a day. Too short an OCI will lead to you spending too much money on oil.

Madarmour Neutral Newbie February 17, 2004 Share February 17, 2004 For my car, it's 4.5L, now 5.5L as I've installed an oil cooler. Best to check your owner's manual. Info should be there. ↡ Advertisement
