Thanx turbobrick:) Actually I hav met AutoS before at the ICE forum meetup but haven't talk to him yet.

After reading the other posting "Amplifier and Tweeter"... it furthers my original plan to get a set of components.

My budget is below $300. Hopefully also including installation!! [laugh] Hope I am not pushing my luck too far [thumbsup]

Anyway hope you guys can recommend something.

Someone is offering me a set of Blaupunkt Velocity Components - 6", 4", Tweeter & crossover - for $250+. new set. Worth it?

Lurp,

Baby Amp to use or not to use? [crazy] Will depend on the amp quality and power and will depend on the HU power. Generally it will be a waste of time. The HU's nowsadays can perform better than most baby amps.

Someone offer U Blau spkrs? If me I will not take anything Blau. The spkrs themselves won't say very bad, but can definitely get a lot better for same money. Not trying to target [rifle] anyone. Just say it the way I see it. [thumbsup]

Risk pple cussing [sly] at me, and wouldn't be the first time. If want to diplo self-censor sensitive comments. [lipsrsealed] then better don't waste effort to say anything in the first place.

Regards,

AutoS

BTW at ICE meets U see me can always come and chit-chat. Sometimes I look here look there also very bored. Others happy conversing [gossip] don't want to interfere and still others standing far-far away like scared come close kenah makan. [shakehead] Hope U don't mind but I am having cheap thrills here ustilizing all the cartoon siggies. [bounce2]

Hi AutoS,

Can you provide more details on the Cerwin Vega 6" components?

I suppose it's a 2-way with tweeters right? Wat is the approx cost for a 3-way (6" + 4" + tweeter + crossover)??

Cerwin Vega HED 1602-A 6 1/2" component set speakers.

I don't have the max power rating on these, cuz I don't have the manual and I don't pay much notice to such figures [crazy] which pple quote [gossip] as if got some profound meaning.

Max power ratings are meant to cover the manufacturer's ass. If U blow spkrs cuz input power above max then don't blame spkr or manufacturer kinda thingy. As for performance? These ratings do not indicate how much power is needed to make spkrs sing, nor any indication of how loud the spkrs can play nor how good they will sound.

As a general rule almost all component spkrs can sing W/ 50 Watts RMs. And the more power one has and the cleaner the signal can be pushed thro ... to a certain limit of diminishing returns. And no a really powerful amp will not blow the spkrs cuz any tuner with a basic knowledge will know how to set the amp gains for max performance and least strain on spkrs. On a more powerful amp the ideal gain setting will be lower which means less strain on amp and cleaner signal being powered thro.

And as a pragmatic practice and application, thro experience we will know what is the minimum power to max any speakers performance. That's why I recommend these Vegas which are super efficient ie no need amp for good performance and nicely within Ur budget.

3-Way speaker system? U haven't even started considering a full system yet, so why talk 3-way? Not a good idea to use HU under power to try and run. Yes in a fully amplifier powered system, 3-way system can afford some advantages in sound reproduction in the car. But to garnish these advantages, a host of variables and their matching got to be considered. Not straightforward and one could almost write a thesis on this subject. [scholar]

For the speakers, U want good performance from the HU come and try. Once Px offered agreeable we'll install. If U genuinely think that improvement not up to expectation then we'll take out, no sweat no black face etc. [thumbsup]

Thing to consider is that it's not just the hardware. Even simple thing like speaker install there is good and correct method in the install and some here on this forum have experienced this difference first hand. Can U believe that after speaker installed have to actually pay and get it re-installed to get a proper sound. [crazy] Well it happens!

Thanks for your reply [:)] Ya, I have also heard of cases of guys having to pay additional to rectify the faults not "warranty" by some installers. [thumbsdown]

Hehehe [:)] really am learning about ICE right now & appreciate your detailed reply. Will take a trip to your shop. [thumbsup]
