Blaster Neutral Newbie February 2, 2004 Share February 2, 2004 Newbie here..... Anyone knows whether is there a need to re-calibrate the speedo after a change in rim size? Where to do it? My stock is 185/60/14.....thinking of changing to 195/50/15 ↡ Advertisement
Epsilon 2nd Gear February 2, 2004 Share February 2, 2004 not much different. example when travelling at 100km/h in 185/60/14, you will be travelling at 99.72299 in 195/50/15.

Car_guru Neutral Newbie February 2, 2004 Share February 2, 2004 As long as you upsize correctly, the difference in diameter will be negligable... so dun need to recaliberate the speedo...

Car_guru Neutral Newbie February 3, 2004 Share February 3, 2004 Rough guide... for every 1" increase in rim size, the width will increase by 10 mm and the aspect ratio will decrease by 10%. Eg. 185/60R14 to 195/50R15. This is called a +1 upgrade. If there's no increase in rim size, for every 10 mm increase in width, the aspect ratio decreases by 5%. Eg 175/70R14 to 185/65R14. Take note that this method of upsizing is an estimate, and it's pretty accurate for up to +2 upgrade (ie. change to a rim 2" bigger). If you change to a rim that's 3" bigger, using this method will no longer be that accurate anymore.
