Yesterday was raining cats and dogs.....mondy using aspec DB...reali feels v.slippery and aquaplane quite a number of times [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

any comments bro?

depends on what kind of driver you are. to me, it sucks big time in both dry and wet, gimme free i throw away.

if you even enjoy spirited driving at all, i wouldnt risk my life using this crap, what's a little noise when it comes to safety?

the name is also some marketing gimmick, lots of people think it is quiet cuz of the DB in the name. not cheap some more, crap.

I realise dthat all these tyre discussion are about Japanese tyres.Has any of you tried the Michelin MXT. Personally, I find the wet (and dry) grip excellent.

Prior to this, I was using Michelin MXV3A Pilot. Excellent road holding under all circumstances. That tyre lasted me 5 years (60,000km). There was still some thread left (within the legal limit), but I decided to change, as fine hair line cracks had appeared.

you used your tyres for FIVE YEARS?! [shocked][shocked][shocked][shocked]

i don't knoe if this is good or not, recently changed to firenza tyres as my aspec db is botaked on one side. so i have front with firenza, went up to kl and it was raining on the highway. thing is, i saw a lot of water going/splashing towards outside of my front tyres, never seen b4 on my aspec db. gripping seems to be feeling good. no aqua planning feeling and overall handling i felt good. the splashing was obvious cause it was quite high as i can see it while driving. but i tried the max to 130-140km/h. i don't know if i can judge by that.

So I'm not the only who has good experience with Firenza. smile.gif

Hopefully more people could try it out and concur with this finding. I haven't got the chance to really use the firenza in extreme conditions as yet, but nowadays when it's raining, I would purposely look for puddles of water to drive over and make the big splashes! laugh.gif

I think after these few days of driving in heavy rain, I would say the tyres do inspire confidence.

this firenza,

from which country?

do bear in mind that firenza doesn't hv silica compound so wet grip may not be as good as the other performance tyres.

Tyres can last that long - 5 years.

I park my car 80% of the time in the shade, and use ArmorAll to protect the sidewalls.

When driving, if it's red light ahead, I'll just release the accelerator and let the car glide to a stop. Plus no hard cornering. And of course the appropriate tyre pressure is impt. It CAN be done.

Aspec Db is a comfort tyre for the less concerned, keen and enthusiastic drivers. Yup the ones that hogs the road, the ones that makes you wanna kick butt type. bounce1.gifbounce1.gif

Yep...want wet weather performance...go for Goodyear F1 GSD3.

In my view (having tried F1, MXT, ST115), ST115 has the best overall performance thumbsup.gif.

F1's wet performance is not as good because it lacks the "drainage system". Although the design is meant to channel water outwards sideways, it will still aquaplane because these channels are not deep and wide. Aquaplane happens when all the channels are "flooded" with water, so much that the bouyancy force increases and pushes the tyres upwards (off the road).

For ST115, there are 2 extremely wide and deep grooves. These, coupled with outwards sideways channels reduces "flooding" of channels with water and so reduces aquaplaning. At the same time, the rubber compound and design makes it an acoustic tyre, i.e. quiet.

MXT is just out of the league in the performance tyre category but very good in comfort and noise.

I ever drive along the NS Highway at 140kph in pouring rain with the ST115 without any problem...thumbsup.gif...
