Hello All,

I am considering getting the Mazda 2. As this is my first car, I dun have any experience in cars, therefore any comments about this car would be helpful in my decision. Thks.

Hi there,

Just booked my car early Dec, 1st time buying new car so was in similar position as you. What I suggest would be to actually decide on a budget and then go test drive those that you like within your budget. That way you can actually compare between the different choices available. Nothing beats trying things 1st hand [nod]

Also take some time to browse around the MCF forum here. There's lots of good advice and interesting information available, not to mention the friendly bros and sis's who have also provided me with lotsa info and advice [thumbsup]

Hi King,

I have test driven both the Mazda 2 and the Honda jazz. I am not too sure what are the pros and cons of these 2 cars but I my preference at this point is the mazda. Need some expert opinions here.. [confused] thks

Franking speaking,i nvr drive the two car b4,so not fair to comments anything,

one thing for sure,JAzz fuel consumption is beri good for a 1.3L/1.4L car

Mazda2 is using VVTI,varible timing.

for me i may chose Mazda2,but the pricing now is beri steep

u might as well wait for a while more [thumbsup]

thks for your reply. I have been reading the various threads on mazda cars and the general consenses is that the mazda car prices are steep for now. So for the mazda 2 @$70888 with omv of ~$15000. Is this considered steep? What would be a reasonable price for consideration?

If you want reasonable price for Mazda2, juz wait for another 3 to six months. [;)]

Sure price will drop further becuz launch price is always higher......... [:(]

Remember in 1999 new 323 1.6M was at $90k and the last face-lift 323 1.6M Protege was $66k. [:p]

History always repeat itself.... [nod]

u must also consider COE price mah... during 1999 COE price is like 45K but now only 24K... price up or down depend on COE very much... if Mazda 2 OMV is 15K and they are selling it at 70888... i think it's quite reasonable... IMHO...

I'm not saying that the price is not reasonable. What I am saying initial launch price for any brand usually start higher, and the marketing pple will have to find at what price the consumers are willing to pay. [nod] Hondas are priced higher because pple are willing to pay for it. Even that KM are lowering their price after some time when a new model was launched. [nod]

So if you can wait a little longer, naturally it will drop as competitors always come up with newer models. [nod] Well if you want to be the first one to own a initial-launched brand new model, by all means. That's my IMHO.......... [;)]

the reasonable price for Mazda 2 is just my opinion lah... i never say u say one mah... [;)]

of course i agreed that the inital launch price for any car will be higher... only depend whether u want to pay or not loh... [nod]

i just feel that the example u quote for the 323 is a bit misleading loh... its like telling people the 323 actaully drop 24K within 4-5 yrs... IMHO... [:)]

Sry if I confuse you. If you calculate correctly, most of the price drop are COE and some OMV values. All-in-all the MM's general car price drop is not so "misleading" which work out around $5K or less on average. [:p]

i really a bit confused loh... [dizzy]

yup... COE play a very important part in car price... new model always tend to be a bit more expensive... not only Mazda even many other brands also same same... no doubt that wait for a while the price will drop but provided the COE price remain the same loh... [;)]
