Aircon coil drying

Actually with the water cooling, turbo timer not necessary as even with engine off the water will still cool the bearings by convection flow.

I installed a turbo timer when my brick was virgin out of over-enthusiasm, I use the timer now to allow my aircon blower to dry the evaporator instead (with engine off though).

Hahaha. Installed turbi timer for ac. U sud call it ac timer now. [:)]

I normally switch off the ac but leave the fan blowing about 1-2 mins b4 i park the car. This takes care of condensation at the coils.

Well my "A/C Timer" will save me a $500 coil repair if I can maintain the coil from moisture & mildew wear.

I tend to turn the A/C off and open the vent with fan on to dry the coil but leaving the timer on another 1-3mins to play safe as well [;)]

My A/C servicing is just check gas pressure and top up compressor oil if necessary. No coil cleaning, too much labor. I occasionally spray lysol into the cabin intake to kill off any germs from mildew on the coil and that's it. [:)]

Once a year or so i spray lysol in the whole car just to get rid of any unwelcomed squatters who might have set up home there [:)]

Keeps everything fresh n clean.

Comes in a spray can.

Can get at supermarts. About $5 for the large can. Can spray whole car twice.

Also use to spray in my shoes for freshness. Got 2 fragrances to choose also. Costs less than the scholl spray.

Not the aircon vents, but the intake vents. Could be on top near windscreen or at the under the dash. Check out the proper intake for aircon in your car first [;)]

hey guys.. be a little careful with the Lysol thing... it's not meant to be used in a confined area like the car... further.. it's difficult to be effective unless you're able to reach into the aircon evaporator through the vents @ the bonnet area. in fact, if you're in re-circulation mode, the aircon evaporator may be shut off from that air intake (i'm not sure.. but it seems to make sense).

when I was in UK a couple of months ago, I saw a DIY product made and tested in UK that is used to kill bacteria in the car and aircon evaporator.. total-release type.. i.e. fire & forget.. no need to hunt for vents to "deploy"..
