Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 10, 2002 Share February 10, 2002 (edited) Actually with the water cooling, turbo timer not necessary as even with engine off the water will still cool the bearings by convection flow. I installed a turbo timer when my brick was virgin out of over-enthusiasm, I use the timer now to allow my aircon blower to dry the evaporator instead (with engine off though). Pisces69 6th Gear February 10, 2002 Share February 10, 2002 Hahaha. Installed turbi timer for ac. U sud call it ac timer now. I normally switch off the ac but leave the fan blowing about 1-2 mins b4 i park the car. This takes care of condensation at the coils.

Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 10, 2002 Author Share February 10, 2002 Well my "A/C Timer" will save me a $500 coil repair if I can maintain the coil from moisture & mildew wear. I tend to turn the A/C off and open the vent with fan on to dry the coil but leaving the timer on another 1-3mins to play safe as well
Pisces69 6th Gear February 10, 2002 Share February 10, 2002 good idea. Since u already have the timer, might as well put it to good use.

Pisces69 6th Gear February 10, 2002 Share February 10, 2002 Yeah, but what about your regular ac servicing. Dont u still have to remove it for cleaning?
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 10, 2002 Author Share February 10, 2002 My A/C servicing is just check gas pressure and top up compressor oil if necessary. No coil cleaning, too much labor. I occasionally spray lysol into the cabin intake to kill off any germs from mildew on the coil and that's it.
Pisces69 6th Gear February 10, 2002 Share February 10, 2002 Hahaha. Thats exactly what i spray too. Can even b used on carpets, seats(fabric) n boot to kill any smells n bacteria. Leave a mild plesant smell too.
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 10, 2002 Author Share February 10, 2002 I use Febreeze on my boot carpet and the interior I just vacuum the carpet. I chose Lysol for the A/C coil to rid of the germs mainly.
Neilchua Neutral Newbie February 10, 2002 Share February 10, 2002 (edited) How do you apply the Lysol on the aircon to kill germs? Do you spray into the air con vent? Tks. Edited February 10, 2002 by Neilchua
Pisces69 6th Gear February 10, 2002 Share February 10, 2002 Once a year or so i spray lysol in the whole car just to get rid of any unwelcomed squatters who might have set up home there Keeps everything fresh n clean.
Pisces69 6th Gear February 10, 2002 Share February 10, 2002 Comes in a spray can. Can get at supermarts. About $5 for the large can. Can spray whole car twice. Also use to spray in my shoes for freshness. Got 2 fragrances to choose also. Costs less than the scholl spray.

Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 10, 2002 Author Share February 10, 2002 Not the aircon vents, but the intake vents. Could be on top near windscreen or at the under the dash. Check out the proper intake for aircon in your car first
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 10, 2002 Author Share February 10, 2002 Lysol can be gotten at Supermarkets but under the household section. Comes in 3 colored bottles (green, white and yellow).
Hannson Neutral Newbie July 10, 2006 Share July 10, 2006 (edited) hey guys.. be a little careful with the Lysol thing... it's not meant to be used in a confined area like the car... further.. it's difficult to be effective unless you're able to reach into the aircon evaporator through the vents @ the bonnet area. in fact, if you're in re-circulation mode, the aircon evaporator may be shut off from that air intake (i'm not sure.. but it seems to make sense). when I was in UK a couple of months ago, I saw a DIY product made and tested in UK that is used to kill bacteria in the car and aircon evaporator.. total-release type.. i.e. fire & forget.. no need to hunt for vents to "deploy"..
