Zyrofillica 1st Gear December 12, 2011 Share December 12, 2011 http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...t=442275#442275 howz your practice??? Re up this thread. My front left caliper also jam. same symptoms as yours. How was your fix? What did the workshop do for you and should i replace calipers? Was thinking go for BBK if replace caliper is ex. normal servicing of piston and change of brake oil is sufficient or does it keep recurring? Dun feel safe driving around if my brakes are not at 100%.
Munch003 2nd Gear December 12, 2011 Share December 12, 2011 Coincidence, my caliper jammed too. But the piston itself is fine. But instead one of the 2 pins that the caliper slides on has seized. So the braking action is done by the pad thats resting on the piston only. Thus one pad wore down wherelse the other pad was still thick. Tried soaking it in WD40 and knocking the caliper free but it refuses to budge. I didn't realise it until the inboard pad wore down to the metal and started grinding. Braking wise nothing different was felt. Just the grinding noise and the uneven wear of one pad. No choice but to replace the caliper for mine. ↡ Advertisement
