Got the rear left brake light assembly damaged yesterday at IMM during reversing. [thumbsdown]

Call CA this morning and enquire about the price for the unit. The price was $210 per assy. So bo pian, bought it because it was the last piece. [:|] before the next shipment of spares arrive.

As for fitment, DIY. Tools required are 2x open end sizes 8mm and 10mm, 1x philips screwdriver and 1x small flat screwdriver for prying purposes. Time taken slightly more than an hour.

Look like the skoda spares are pretty expensive.

Phew... not sure abt the cost of this part in other cars but doesnt sound cheap to me. Might not be cheaper if you get from JM Butt unless you are buying a lot of other things at one go to justify the shipment cost.

If CA maintain this reputation of "high cost of maintanence" for the Skoda cars, we shld see potential buyers all shying away.

Agreeed it's expensive.

Looking closely at the items, which come complete with all the four bulbs, it's a quality product.

The damage light assy, was repaired with glue and transparent tape and kept as standby, the bulbs are all working, so it become my spares inventory.

(edited)

A case of human error and complacency. It was one of those parallel parking on the ground floor, where a row of car park available.

During parking, whiile negoitiating into the slot, was looking at the front car so as not to contact, but fail to realise that the front car is park inward toward the left and the rear carpark onwards is actually further out because of the pilliar which starts from behind the slot that I intended to park.

When I was coming in, this car just left, so quickly masok before someone spot the slot, Failure to assess the empty slot before moving in, and in // parking I normally follow the front car as guidance and alignment.

The lite hit the steel bars around the pillar, missed the bumper and also a bit on the rear door edge near the light. The car is really solid because the impact sounded like someting more worse.

I really cannot tahan IMM parking. go on a weekend it is close to impossible to find a parking lot there... [:(]

So what I do is to 'illegal' park my car in those so call lots with no marking.

Normally parking parallel behind those cars that parked in the straight in slot are okay becos the pillars are between three car slot. So when parking you can actually see the 2 big pillars and also they are a guide for parking in the centre slot.

However, after incident, will look out for this potential hazard and also must be alert next time. [nod] . Important thing is not to make the same mistake again. [:)]
