It will be a hard decision to choose between Voxy and Mobilo looking at the appearance and space packaging alone [:/] .... it is quite incredible that 6 persons can be seated in such good looking compact MPVs: well done [thumbsup]

"Voxy - My Straight Minivan", you mean they will come up with another version for the "not-so-straight" type?..... they are really trying to please everyone [laugh]

So far, the beauty contest for MPVs has three contestants: Estima, Renault Avantime, and Ahambra/Galaxy/Sharan (Renegade has a very nice name for this trio [thumbsup] ), i think there should be a few more?

Cheers

Thank you, thank you, thank you, but the 'Sharalhambralaxy' moniker was ripped-off the countless issues of CAR I've read.... [:)]

As for the straight and not-so-straight-Voxies (Voxy's ?), perhaps Toyota's looking into exploiting niche niches..... [laugh][laugh]

i think both of us (or at least myself) are pretending to be expert on this [laugh][laugh] ..... btw, don't forget there are also niche buyers in this categary who hang out at gyms with well-toned bodies in shorts......... so the driver seat must be upgradable to fit these bodies [laugh]

cheers

It'll probably be overpriced by the time it gets here, in line with maintaining of the 'premium' image of VW here in S'pore, so why bother ? [shakehead]

VW cars in Europe are just bread-n-butter cars right (in terms of pricing only)? when they come to singapore they are priced as 'premium' cars [:/] and ppl still go for it [crazy]

That's clever marketing by Cars & Cars. Now they are trying to 'up' the Skoda too! Existing Skoda owners should be happy as the 2nd hand value might be higher, provided the public bites this.

Agree that they are clever and since the cars have the quality in design and performance, why not charge more? Only thing is that a Golf may be cheaper than a equivalent Jap model in Europe but it costs lots more than the same Jap models here for the better peformance etc we only enjoy when we drive it hard or go long distance in Malaysia.

Hey, do i sound anti VW here? i am not. Just trying to do the balance [:p][;)]

Yeah.....I got to hand it to C&C - they've done a pretty decent job with the upped image and public-perception part. If anything, I find it amazing that the car-buying public here is just so willing to splurge on VW's the way they do regardless of the pricing. In UK, a Bora 1.6 16v goes for about STG13.1k and Tody 1.8, STG14.5k while over here the former is about $120-ish (way, way OTT if you ask me) and latter, a smidgen below $100k. Gets even crazier when Audi gets thrown into the equation..... [crazy]

To top it all off, Bora/Golf's outsell A3/Tody's here easily by like 1 to 5 at least.... [crazy] At the rate things are going, Seat's going to end up as the budget brand of the VAG stable..... [dizzy][laugh][laugh]

But, hey, I'm not complaining..... [sunny]

Are you sure the VW Golf offer a better preformance than an equivalent Jap car? 1.6 vs 1.6? Gee, I dunno man. Interior built quality, definitely. It's a good car on it's own but in SG, very much overpriced.

Well, C&C would like us to believe 'we have arrived too' when driving the VW! [laugh][laugh]

Get Seat to sponsor golf lah. Image sure shoot through the roof one! [laugh][laugh]

May be i am outdated, but i thought in terms of handling the Golf should be better even though it may loose out in speed/hp (1.6 vs 1.6).... yeah, sad thing is it's overpriced.

Jap cars are generally designed to suit domestic tastes and road conditions i guess, therefore the difference between Jap and Conti cars. If the Jap really want to design their cars that drive like a conti car, they should be able to do it (or copy then improve it [laugh][laugh] ). So now that Renualt has gained control of Nissan, hopefully we can see some improvements or a combination of the best of both worlds [thumbsup][thumbsup]

Cheers

Yeah, agree with you that Golf will be up there in terms of handling but the word 'performance' can mean a lot of things, right?
