Vinyl cleaner/protectant

I'm not sure but the car interior is generally vinyl? Main item in consideration is that black dashboard from front passenger's airbags to the driver's instructments. This is vinyl right? (feels rubbery).

Over time, there're some smudges caused by fingerprints, etc but the main thing is dust!

I probably need some vinyl cleaner / protectant, with these charactertistics. Any recommendation?

* repels dust (anti-static?)

* matt finish

* new-car smell

Neutral Newbie

Best for you is Vinylex, it comes in a light blue bottle.

It's matt finish (must buff), has new car scent and slightly anti-static (dust off easily),

can be found at ACE Hardware Novena Sq.

Just to check with you all whether which kind of Vinyl protectant is better?

1) 3M Vinyl cleaner and protectant

2) Armor All Vinyl cleaner and Protectant

3) Auto Glym Vinyl and rubber care

Any comments or recommendations on the above products?

I got the Vinylex from ACE as you recommended. Since then, I've used it twice, and twice I got the same experience and therefore need to check with you, maybe I'm using it wrongly.

The rubbery dash material (see pic) is very dark charcoal/black color (best I can describe). I use 3M microfibre (MF) and Vinylex. Straight away, the dash turn matt black and look moist. After covering the entire dash, the MF cloth is a bit dirty.

After it dries, the dash is still the same color - matt black and look moist. On touch, it is very smooth, good feeling! [thumbsup]

(If didn't dry completely, Vinylex will get onto my hand (from steering wheel) and it gives a plastic-ky feeling .. [:/] )

I don't seem to need to buff?! Did I do wrong?

So U like it matt and with a tad shiny moist looks? The buffing part will get it to a non-reflective satin shine rather than a wet look. So it's up to you, both are correct application methods.

Buffing is another alternative to drying if U don't have time to air dry the Vinylex. [nod]
